Hi,
For the standard capabilities MSR sends both a value record and a units record to InfluxDB. The latter I would like not to send as they are not really any use for me and it will reduce the number of records send to my InfluxDB.
Is there a quick way to do this with a filter_entities line like: *>units?
Or do I have to update all capabilities to read like this:
power_sensor:
attributes:
value: true
Cheers Rene
I'm trying to replicate this
wallbox_set_number.PNG
into a MQTT entity where I could set a number with a min and max value.
I can't find a standard capability that fits or any documentation on local MQTT capabilities and the only post on the forum mentioning local MQTT capabilities is this post, is it even possible in current release?
My trial and error work in local_mqtt_capabilities.yaml isn't much to show as it's just a copy of mqtt_capabilities.yaml with changed names and then I got stuck.
Any guidance, examples, documentation, future feature request or denial would be much appreciated, thanks!
Reactor 24057-e9add9f5 bare metal
MQTTController 24050
Build 21228 has been released. Docker images available from DockerHub as usual, and bare-metal packages here.
Home Assistant up to version 2021.8.6 supported; the online version of the manual will now state the current supported versions; Fix an error in OWMWeatherController that could cause it to stop updating; Unify the approach to entity filtering on all hub interface classes (controllers); this works for device entities only; it may be extended to other entities later; Improve error detail in messages for EzloController during auth phase; Add isRuleSet() and isRuleEnabled() functions to expressions extensions; Implement set action for lock and passage capabilities (makes them more easily scriptable in some cases); Fix a place in the UI where 24-hour time was not being displayed.Hi guys,
I've recently bought a new Govee outdoor permanent lights set, and I love it. WAF is pretty high, and the product is good quality. I hope to never run lights in the front of the house.
This new addition has found me searching for something to control these lights, locally. Govee has officials remote and LAN APIs and Home Assistant has it supported, but some undocumented stuff that's integrated into an Homebridge plugin that seems very promising. Without this plugin, my playlist is orchestrated via the cloud and that makes zero sense.
In the past I got some inspiration from plugins running on other platforms and Homebridge seems one of the most active. I could map its devices via HomeKit-local on HA, but I've decommissioned Homebridge years ago when we settled to Alexa (and I want to stay simple), so I had an idea: why get inspiration and rewrite things, when you could write an Homebridge adapter that could load any Homebridge plugin and run them natively under Reactor (MSR)?
I'm not sure if that's viable or made any sense, so I'm posting here to get feedback, encouragement and your thoughts. Anyone could be potentially interested in such a thing?
This system has been running flawlessly year after year for the time changes twice a year literally since MSR came out so I was caught off-guard when this happened this morning.
Time in MSR browser is EST, time on RPi is local time (DST).

I've rebooted the RPi I've restarted MSR after double-checking the time on the RPi. Used a completely different browser to eliminate any caching concerns. Double-checked MSR reactor.yamla5f23151-d691-4343-8499-8e77a55528e5-image.png
What am I missing here @toggledbits ?
Hi- looking for a hint in where to start. My goal is to set a PIN code in a zwave kwikset lock triggered in a rule.
The device isn’t exposing methods to help. The x-hass.call-service looks promising, but what would the service name be?
Plan b would be send the zwave controller a config command- I don’t see any way to explicitly send a command through JS Zwave in my environment.
Running reactor bare metal. JS Zwave is running as an add on inside HASS OS.
Any tips are appreciated.
Hey crew, I'm trying to use MSR to control the RGB values of a Z-Wave bulb in Home Assistant.
Problem I'm running into - I would like to use 'rgb_color.set' to control this, but it doesn't work, instead it always passes the values '255,255,255' to HA no matter what values I enter within MSR.
More notes and examples below - I'm wondering if this is a formatting issue that I'm missing? Thanks for any help!
NOTES FROM TROUBLESHOOTING:
'rgb_color.set_rgb' works successfully, which seems strange. You'd think they would both be affected I've tried a couple different formats, like adding quotes, adding/removing spaces between the RGB values, nothing has fixed it.EXAMPLES:
When I use 'rgb_color.set_rgb', the values successfully carry over to Home Assistant:

But when I use 'rgb_color.set', the values DO NOT successfully carry over to Home Assistant:

Core 2024.2.5 Supervisor 2024.02.1 Operating System 12.0Hi,
I’m running MSR in a docker container on my Synology Nas. The container is automatically updated using watchtower weekly.
It was working. Now, after the update, Reactor webpage is able to load, and all indications on the webpage suggests that it is working fine. However, the updated statuses from Home Assistant and Vera are not being detected.
The container logs show the following error

Noticed right away last night at closing time that the open/close had become inverted with the update to v23326.
It wasn't an awful bit of lift to change all Reactions to reflect the change but it was jarring initially when everything flipped.
Are there release notes on that version, @toggledbits ?
Installing latest-24052-d039d560 and I did a dumb thing: moving too quickly, I deleted package.json instead of package-lock.json because the latter didn't exist.
Ran the installer script - but in the wrong directory so I moved package.json manually.
Everything has come back EXCEPT for my MQTT Cloud OwnTracks entities. They're erroring because of this:

(Don't heckle my folder structure - it's run this way for three years)
reactor.yaml is fine, all MQTT configs exactly as they should be.
The folder mqtt_templates is present:

The file it says is "unreadable" is present and hasn't changed (today's date is the Changed date because I did a quick nonsense edit to see that it was not corrupted in some way).

I was using this method here by @therealdb to run Lua Code from MSR on my Vera Plus but it seems to have stopped working now.
Its the one where you uploaded a file called VeraScenes.lua to your Vera hub and then you could call functions of that file to run particular bits of Lua code from an MSR reaction etc.

This was working well for a long time but I noticed today its not working now.

Hello all, I am trying to create a timer in home assistant that will run for the amount of seconds left in the day. To do so, my plan is to create an expression in MSR where I subtract the seconds elapsed in the day from 86400. From there I will run a service command to start the timer for the seconds I calculated in the expression. I have tried using the time () function in MSR but cannot figure out a way to just get the time elapsed today and in seconds.
I really like these new widgets in MSR status page! Still, at least for the history-widgets, a filtering capability would be helpful. I have quite a many rules running with short intervals and they are clogging these lists making it harder to see "more interesting" ones...
Can file a request in Mantis, if there's wider support for the idea?
Hey Patrick, was wondering you could add the option to be able to disable each individual action. Often when I am testing new actions for my rules I have to copy the rule and then edit it, then once I am happy I have to copy the new actions back to the original rule. It also would be useful for situations when I need to disable certain actions for whatever reason, ie a device not working correctly. I know I can copy complete rules over and make whatever edits and then disable the old rule but it sometimes makes for a lot of different version of a rule that I am testing.
Good morning,
I'm running Home Assistant with MSR, and I do my automation strictly within MSR. I have some basic notifications set up, for instance, when my dishwasher has completed it's cycle, it'll send my iPhone a push notification via the x_haas.system.call_service --> notify.mobile_iphone action.
I saw in the Home Assistant documentation that you can push Actionable Notifications. The example they use if there is motion detection, but no one is home, you can sound an alarm or silence an alarm.
Can this be done from MSR and not directly in Home Assistant? I'd like to do something more of an acknowledgement, like if a door or window is left open, to have a way to get notified, but acknowledge that it is open, and not send any more notifications. If not acknowledged, the notification will continue every 5 or 10 minutes until the door or window is closed, or the notification is acknowledged. This would be useful in situations where I may have a slider door open for some fresh air, so it was deliberate, versus an entry door that didn't latch when entering or leaving the house.
Hi (fourth draft to simplify as I solve problems...)
My MSR is installed from the HASS add on store.
The Docker container did not have SSH client installed.
I was able to get SSH installed and setup keys on a remote worker server for password free SSH logins.
I now have a shell command that sends commands to the remote worker server. It renders content to a tidbyt LED matrix display.
Does anyone know if this will survive an update of the Reactor addon? Will the updated docker image wipe SSH and the private keys stored in the Reactor Docker Container?
Also - is it better to just move Reactor over to the worker server and manage my own updates?
I am using HAOS - Core-2024.1.2, Supervisor 2023.12.0, OS 11.3
I just installed the Reactor plugin for home assistant and tried to move my configuration by copying the reactor-data files to the same location in the home assistant files. Unfortunately this does not work.
I tried rebooting, restarting but the reactor in home assistant stays clean. I tried adding some rules, they do stick but I soo no difference in the reactor-files.
I guess I am missing something very obvious???
No idea what however.... So I would appreciate some pointers.
Warm regards
Hans
Running MSR latest-23344-ca53d088 within a Docker.
My Hubitat (HE) hub suffered almost a 4 day outage from a corrupt backup that failed to restore. During this time I had my MSR docker stopped. Well, I didn't stop it until the the hub had been down for 24 hours. Anyway, I finally got the hub back online this morning and am fixing my MSR rules for everything that was lost. Support needed to purge out the Apps section of the backup.
So my issue. So far everything I have fixed is working as expected, with the exception of my motion controllers. I can see them go "Active" within my HE, but the Entity within MSR never changes from false to true. I ran through a slew of rooms that have motion sensors and only 1 out of 6 changed to true.
I removed the sensor I'm testing with from Maker API, restarted MSR, re-added it, restarted MSR, but no difference. I then Deleted it from MSR and restarted MSR. It was re-added, but again no change. How can I go about testing this further to find out why/what is going on?

@toggledbits Is there a prescribed (read: easy) way to identify which Rule(s) a particular device is explicitly mentioned in? I'm busy replacing an in-wall dimmer, and /think/ I know which two Rules the old module participated in, but want to be 100% certain. Thanks!
-
Should my Vera die, I will almost certainly jump to Hubitat + Reactor.
I saw the writing on the walls, from other 3rd party vendors, about the Vera line and made that change. HE C7 + MSR docker. Thrilled I did and removed my last Vera device a couple of days ago. I have my second HE C7 hub staged and ready to replace the Vera+ at my cabin next week. I'll be using the Rule Machine there though. Not as friendly as MSR, but easily as powerful.

I would second this. Maybe list out the locations they are used within the Entities section? Although now that I'm off Vera, I don't plan many changes. I updated the rules I could remember/find and then waited a day or two to see the Alerts for the ones I missed. I ended up documenting all my Vera ID numbers of the devices because one would creep up a week later and I had a hard time remember who Vera>256 was.
-
I would second this.
Glad I'm not along in wanting this feature, which -- full disclosure -- I'm hoping would further ease my eventual transition away from Vera and onto, say, Hubitat.
So that's two scenarios in which MSR could help:
(a) Swapping a faulty device (e.g. wall switch) for a direct replacement, paired with the existing hub;
(b) Finding each occurrence in MSR of OldHub>Device_X tied to (but unpaired from) my old hub, to swap it for NewHub>Device_X on the new hub.Hope that makes sense. It's almost like asking for an EDIT > FIND & REPLACE feature in a word processor.
-
MSR being the bridge between the two hubs was incredible. Couldn't have done it without it. I moved my Reactor for Vera over first and cleaned that up. Then I moved ALL my scenes and steps that the House Modes did. This set either hub to purely be a device connection point with no rules running on either. I started the migration near the end of August and did 3 - 5 devices at a time, every few days. Any more than 5 at a time was hard to track and adjust MSR along the way. The only real issue was towards the end when I had a couple of switches that would not communicate back to Vera. They were too far away, forcing me move the Vera hub. Luckily I only needed to move it once and get that side of the house in one swoop.
-
@3rdstng This.
I implemented the same plan. Have a couple hours doing laundry? Perfect. Migrate as many devices as that time allows and update the previously-migrated rules from Vera Reactor to MSR.
The migration script @toggledbits provided for Vera Reactor users was huge. Making adjustments was much quicker than rebuilding rulesets from scratch.
I started almost Day One of MSR being released and just this past weekend removed the final hard device from Vera as well as officially shut down my SiteSensors.

Welp, it got to be late last night and I had the Amazon browser window open, so guys... I pulled the trigger and ordered my Hubitat. Will be here tomorrow and I fully intend to put it through its paces. Vera Plus retirement, here we come!!
P.S. This will leave me with perfectly good (2) Vera Plus, (1) Vera Edge, (1) ezlo Plus and (1) ezlo Atom sitting in my closet, hoping to sell. Is there a "Marketplace" section on the Forum??

I thought this deserved its own topic.
At the moment, no, at least, nothing very tidy. If you're on a Linux-based platform (including NAS docker containers), you can
fgrep
thestorage
directory for the device ID.$ fgrep -r 'vera>device_10' storage/rules/* storage/rules/rule-klmlmzg9.json: "entity": "vera>device_10", storage/rules/rule-kln4zy9e.json: "entity": "vera>device_10", storage/rules/rule-klvag40b.json: "entity": "vera>device_10", storage/rules/rule-klwtr0re.json: "entity": "vera>device_10", storage/rules/rule-km6w0xwi.json: "entity": "vera>device_10", storage/rules/rule-kmkt2705.json: "entity": "vera>device_10",
You can then open each of those files and look for the
name
field to find the rule name. Not great, but maybe better than nothing. Once you're used to it, it's quick. If you expand the search to thestorage
directory in general, you'll also find the expressions and reactions. The issue at hand is that Reactor doesn't use a proper database for storage currently. The database I'd most like to use, mongodb, would lend itself to storing this type of data and maintaining a lot of flexible relationships that would allow queries of this kind to be easy, but comes at a high cost: mongodb just as an add-on is much larger than Reactor itself, more than doubling the demand on both storage and RAM before even doing any work; and as a separate service on which Reactor would then depend entirely, it introduces a big new point of failure in the system.
I haven't come up with a solution I like yet, but I'll confess it's also something I haven't spent a huge amount of time thinking about. It may simply be that for the relatively low use this type of query would receive, brute force is the best answer (i.e. something under Tools that just rips through the objects directly, no database storage/overhead).

[SOLVED - OK to remove this]
SOLUTION: I had mistakenly assigned the NAS folder /REACTOR instead of REACTOR/DATA to the '/var/reactor' volume when setting up the Docker Container for MSR. Once rectified, all Rulesets reappeared like magic.
Speaking of finding missing items, I've consulted the Docs under "Installation" and come up empty on solving a mini-crisis I got myself into tonight after rebuilding my RAID volume. On my Synology NAS > Docker > MSR setup, I had taken pains to backup the entirety of the shared REACTOR folder contents. That went well.
After successfully building my new RAID array (with larger, more reliable HDDs), I restored all the REACTOR folder contents in the same (top-level) location on my NAS. It was time to reinstall Docker, download the Reactor 'latest' image, then get the Container going. Again, all went smoothly.
Here's my problem: MSR latest-21307-1746e27 is running fine, and although it lives among all the restored folders and subfolders - full of my existing Rulesets, etc. - the UI shows none of them. Instead, I get the classic, "This rule set is empty. Click "Add Rule" to add a rule to it."
Q: How can I force a fresh MSR installation to 'see' my existing settings?
THANKS for any guidance! I'm a little scared now, and all sphincters still unclenching from the NAS HDD replacement surgery.

I don't like to mongodb idea. Reactor is very light and nimble. Plus with everything being text based files, it's harder to corrupt than a DB, thus easier to restore to if you need to.
I do like something under the tools section. Maybe just a stupid simple GUI to a fgrep cli command with collected variables that then display the results in the GUI as well? It's crude, but it should work. Maybe? And also now that my migration is done, I think I would only really use it to find a device I know is in use within a rule I nested elsewhere. I've tried to keep them grouped in areas, like Roller Shades, Light Schedules, Announcements, etc. But every once in a while there is a rule that straddles both and I hunt for it. Aside from that, I am perfectly fine with the red bell in the top right.

I think Hubitat handles it by adding a reference - complete with hyperlink - for every Rule containing a specific device or virtual device. One click to jump over to the Rule. Kinda neat.
As someone mentioned above, I think the idea place for MSR to have this (if it were to become a feature) is under Entities. Truly it could spare me many hours of hunting and pecking - and never being entirely certain - that I sadly do not have most days.
