Aqara FP1
Needs HA again though. I'd rather like to avoid another system, personally.

interesting idea....

Hmmm. Now I have HA......

Lately every automation conversation I've had ends with "Dude. You should really get Home Assistant."

Aquara FP2 seems a game changer. I’ll probably try a couple of them later this summer, when I hope I’ll have more free time for our true mission the fact that I could detect people standing, walking or sitting is a game changer for my use cases (large open space and master bedroom).

Well I'd rather Wifi than another dongle. Do we have any idea on dates for availability?

Honestly, Home Assistant impresses me everyday. I really have not come across any shortcomings with it.. the community is great, it supports almost any product and its very very stable. Paired with MSR its unstoppable.
-
TBH I'm impressed with it as well

@LibraSun cheers. I've got on VM on my workhorse Mac server. So far so rock solid, but I'm only using it to do Alexa TTS. I might get look at some of the other things it's claimed to discover on my network (My Volumio players, for example, as well as my DNLA server) so it's hardly loaded.
What I am trying to think is can I just pick up the config and move it to a dedicated host / install at some point, or is it going to get snotty about changes?Tangentially I should really think about an backup / upgrade path for my main OpenLuup / MSR install but I keep putting it off.....
Cheers

I used to run HA on a windows 11 VM but ran into a few issues that basically stopped my system from running. I ended up purchasing an Ordroid N2+ and the transition was painless. Just restore from back up and everything was working as is.

@Pabla Fab thanks. I have a feeling I'm going to have to go Synology or something soon. I'm just ending up with too many computers

Exactly so. I’ve been delighted with mine, allowing in-house backups and storage, replacing several RPi lookalikes, running Grafana, HomeBridge, and, of course, openLuup.
Solid as a rock, especially so, when on a single UPS.

@CatmanV2 I bought my Synology DS218+ a couple of years ago after intense research into all available NAS models on the market. Chose it specifically because of ideal size to cost ratio, plus ability to function as a platform for (a) Plex Server (transcoding .mkv files) for several households, (b) Docker containers (which I only installed to test/run/enjoy Reactor MSR), (c) automatic cloud backup of entire Google Drive.
Everything else, including HA now in Docker, has been gravy. I did add the max RAM it could take (I do this with ALL hardware though, not because it needed it), and upgraded my old HDs with a matched pair of Seagate (I think?) SSD drives.
Quiet, fast, expandable, excellent I/O, amazing apps right out of the box, spot-on network awareness ... far from "just a NAS".

@CatmanV2 The newer models of course would be called the DS222+ and DS223 (they are numbered from year of release and the plus indicates something to do with the CPU - that you want! - so do your research comparing one versus the other).
-
I have a DS420+. When looking, I was flummoxed by the available options, but this gave me plenty of storage and I also added some cache and SSD. Perhaps overdid it, since the HA stuff takes only about 0.5% cpu and 30Mb of memory!
