Reactor (Multi-System/Multi-Hub) Announcements
toggledbitsT
Build 21228 has been released. Docker images available from DockerHub as usual, and bare-metal packages here. Home Assistant up to version 2021.8.6 supported; the online version of the manual will now state the current supported versions; Fix an error in OWMWeatherController that could cause it to stop updating; Unify the approach to entity filtering on all hub interface classes (controllers); this works for device entities only; it may be extended to other entities later; Improve error detail in messages for EzloController during auth phase; Add isRuleSet() and isRuleEnabled() functions to expressions extensions; Implement set action for lock and passage capabilities (makes them more easily scriptable in some cases); Fix a place in the UI where 24-hour time was not being displayed.

Deprecation Announcement: 32-bit ARM *docker* images
toggledbitsT
If you are using the armv7l docker image, the OpenJS Foundation that publishes node is no longer producing 32-bit builds as of v24. That means the last supported LTS version of node for armv7l is v22, which will go End-of-Life in May 2027. Therefore, the Reactor armv7l image is now deprecated and will only be produced until node v22 goes EOL, and I will not publish armv7l images beyond that date. If you are running an RPi 3 or earlier with Reactor, you are on this image, and will need to upgrade hardware to a 64-bit model and use the arm64 image. If you need help getting it done, ask in this category.

@toggledbits I pulled the image (well, Watchtower did) and within minutes the whole system went offline. The log looks like it ends with 26143. http request action & digest auth
tunnusT
I’m using the HTTP Request action in MSR and need to authenticate against an endpoint that uses HTTP Digest authentication. Now that endpoint was changed to use SHA-256 in digest auth, so I would like to know if MSR supports it, or is it limited to MD5-based digest auth?

Integrations and 'Loaded'
CatmanV2C
Thanks again for the recent release. One thing I wanted to ask about integrations and their 'loaded' condition: Is there something similar that applies to the entire controller? So if I have (for example) a helper in HA that is used to trigger an automation in MSR, is it possible to effectively exclude it until MSR is 'happy' that HA is stable and its values can be trusted? This, actually goes back to the issue I had. I've got a use case where a 30 second delay from triggering is a bit of a PITA (sustained for...) and was just wondering if there's a way of knowing that 'native' HA functions are working correctly. Probably asking wrong, or it's hideously obvious, but... TIA C

Possible mismatch between binary_sensor in HA and MSR
CatmanV2C
Hi. First off this is an unsupported version of HS 2026.5.2 so happy to be told it's that. Currently running latest-26130-3d2a489a on a Debian Buster bare metal VM. I've been working on moving away from OpenLuup completely and up until now have been using some virtual switches t manage things like 'Is there anyone home' I have a binary sensor in HA that provides the same thing binary_sensor.someone_home which appears in MSR as hass>binary_sensor_someone_home HA shows on or off. MSR shows true or false All fine. The odd thing happened after an update of HA and a restart. From HA 13:07:04 it turned off 13:07:11 it turned on However that does not appear to have been reflected in MSR which turned all the heating and so on off as it is supposed to do, and I got all my notifications as I should. Here's a huge log section (sorry) as I wanted to show how MSR identifies that HA is up and running at 12:07:08 (Zulu) but triggers the 'There's no one here' at 12:07:17 some 6 seconds after HA updated to on. Checking in the interface MSR said the status was 'False' while HA stated 'On' Reactor build 26116: empty group reaction
therealdbT
I have a couple of rules that has group reactions with empty conditions. I notice, in particular on one that's called every 5 secs, that it was not working. I added an empty comment as condition and it started working again. I don't know if saving was enough to "reset" it, but I'm reporting anyway. No errors in the logs, but the MQTT message was not published, so I had an easy path to check the rule. I have others like these, but not easy to test. @toggledbits maybe some stuck status data? (I restarted a couple of times after the last update). Thanks.

Upcoming Storage Change -- Got Back-ups?
toggledbitsT
TL;DR: Format of data in storage directory will soon change. Make sure you are backing up the contents of that directory in its entirety, and you preserve your backups for an extended period, particularly the backup you take right before upgrading to the build containing this change (date of that is still to be determined, but soon). The old data format will remain readable (so you'll be able to read your pre-change backups) for the foreseeable future. In support of a number of other changes in the works, I have found it necessary to change the storage format for Reactor objects in storage at the physical level. Until now, plain, standard JSON has been used to store the data (everything under the storage directory). This has served well, but has a few limitations, including no real support for native JavaScript objects like Date, Map, Set, and others. It also is unable to store data that contains "loops" — objects that reference themselves in some way. I'm not sure exactly when, but in the not-too-distant future I will publish a build using the new data format. It will automatically convert existing JSON data to the new format. For the moment, it will save data in both the new format and the old JSON format, preferring the former when loading data from storage. I have been running my own home with this new format for several months, and have no issues with data loss or corruption. A few other things to know: If you are not already backing up your storage directory, you should be. At a minimum, back this directory up every time you make big changes to your Rules, Reactions, etc. Your existing JSON-format backups will continue to be readable for the long-term (years). The code that loads data from these files looks for the new file format first (which will have a .dval suffix), and if not found, will happily read (and convert) a same-basenamed .json file (i.e. it looks for ruleid.dval first, and if it doesn't find it, it tries to load ruleid.json). I'll publish detailed instructions for restoring from old backups when the build is posted (it's easy). The new .dval files are not directly human-readable or editable as easily as the old .json files. A new utility will be provided in the tools directory to convert .dval data to .json format, which you can then read or edit if you find that necessary. However, that may not work for all future data, as my intent is to make more native JavaScript objects directly storable, and many of those objects cannot be stored in JSON. You may need to modify your backup tools/scripts to pick up the new files: if you explicitly name .json files (rather than just specifying the entire storage directory) in your backup configuration, you will need to add .dval files to get a complete, accurate backup. I don't think this will be an issue for any of you; I imagine that you're all just backing up the entire contents of storage regardless of format/name, that is the safest (and IMO most correct) way to go (if that's not what you're doing, consider changing your approach). The current code stores the data in both the .dval form and the .json form to hedge against any real-world problems I don't encounter in my own use. Some future build will drop this redundancy (i.e. save only to .dval form). However, the read code for the .json form will remain in any case. This applies only to persistent storage that Reactor creates and controls under the storage tree. All other JSON data files (e.g. device data for Controllers) are unaffected by this change and will remain in that form. YAML files are also unaffected by this change. This thread is open for any questions or concerns.

Next Release?
CatmanV2C
Morning. Do we have a roadmap for the next release, at all? I only ask as there's a breaking HA change and I have many packages now out of date. Cheers! C

My sys_mode entity is updating fine. Be more intentional in your review of the logs. Change the house mode on the hub using its user interface, and then immediately look at the end of the Reactor log. You should see a message like:

[###BUILDVERSION###]2026-06-27T20:24:27.557Z <HubitatController#he_3:NOTICE> HubitatController#he_3 received mode change to Evening
[###BUILDVERSION###]2026-06-27T20:24:32.487Z <HubitatController#he_3:NOTICE> HubitatController#he_3 received mode change to Day

(that's the output of two back-to-back changes on my hub)

If you don't see that and you see errors instead related to the hub, post those.

And remember, full browser refresh. If an entity value doesn't look right/expected, refresh first. Then start asking why the value isn't what's expected.

The request errors you posted are for OWM weather queries, and those are not unusual; their service isn't guaranteed and I get several request errors every day myself (which I ignore). Generally, your HTTP request action seems unrelated to the system mode issue. If it happens again, go directly to the end of the log and see what detail was logged for the request, but make sure you are looking at that actual request action, not something unrelated.

It worked, my friend. I did a fresh install, restarted the VM, and now it's working perfectly. Thank you very much.

A quick question: we used to open these topics in Mantis, but I no longer have access to it. Is it okay to continue here on the forum?

          Hi @toggledbits

I'm noticing a new issue: the state is becoming null again in this sequence of operations.

          Complete sequence of the test:

          1. Reboot the VM
          2. Resume with the same state

          b47ad8cb-da52-48dd-816a-5c80a6300813-image.png

          1. Than
          root@reactor:/home/wilson/reactor# systemctl stop reactor
          root@reactor:/home/wilson/reactor# systemctl start reactor

          1. Update value to null

          7dec0631-d5b8-4fff-9d08-e24490d50d3c-image.png

I'm trying to understand the error logs, and I only recognize the HTTP issue we're discussing in another chat; I can't make sense of the rest—sorry. I'm sending the full log starting from the last line where the variable is set to null, in case you can spot anything.

Sorry to bother you—maybe these are just issues with my installation. I actually just deleted everything and reinstalled the latest version. I only left the “config” and “storage” directories; I removed everything else. From the ‘storage’ directory, I deleted the “state” file. I know that was a drastic move, but I'm trying to figure out what happened to my installation.

If you look at the error messages being reported by HubitatController, you can see it is not able to talk to the hub. What do the startup messages for HubitatController look like? Something really does not seem right network-wise with either your host or your hub.

Let's clear a few baseline things out of the way.

            1. Post the first 20 lines of Reactor startup messages.
            2. Run npm ls in your Reactor directory and post the output.
            3. From the Hubitat GUI, post the version number of your Hubitat firmware.
            4. Post your HubitatController config

OK. That all looks good. I upgraded my hub to 2.5.0.159, and it works fine. I'm just not seeing any of the issues you are having here. The only things I can suggest at this point:

                1. Reboot your hub
                2. If that doesn't resolve it, delete your Maker API instance on the hub and create a new one; update Reactor's configuration to reflect the new app ID and access token.

OK. Here it is... I switched my nodejs to the same v24.17 you are using... and my system broke! Same behavior as yours.

Upgrade your nodejs to v24.18. Whatever was broken in 17 seems to have been fixed for 18.

                        Ha!

And... it's a known regression, with a specific fix applied to v24.18, so confirms all.

Shouldn't there be a release note for this update to version 26177 regarding the Node.js version?

Because when I performed the update, that’s when I noticed this Mode issue—actually, it was already happening before, I’m sure, when I updated Hubitat—but it became more apparent because, as I showed in this and other posts (like the one about the HTTP query), I started getting various communication errors with Hubitat, such as loss of connection and timeouts.

                          And now everything has disappeared.

I’m still dealing with an issue involving Telegram, which I reported in the other dedicated chat.

@wmarcolin I'm still looking at your Telegram issue. Now that I know nodejs v24.17 is a problem, I will post a note for it. Apparently the same change that broke v24 was also made to v22, so I'm trying to identify/confirm that version as well.

Wow, what a headache. I don't know if this is also related to the Node.js issue, but I just added another scenario that I'm now seeing in the log—an INFO warning for a device that doesn't exist. I don't know if it's related. I'm going through the entire error log and reactor.log to see if I can spot anything else unusual in the information.
