Can MSR be connected to more than one Vera controller?
-
I have one MSR instance running on a Raspberry Pi 4B 2GB connected to three Veras (two Plus's and an Edge), openLuup, Hubitat C7, and Hass.
Have at it! And you are spot-on: just copy the configuration section to another, change the ID and source, and you should be good to go.
Someday, we'll have to figure out what the practical limits are on the number of HA controllers connected, but there is no enforced limit in the code either by architecture or implementation.

The more I think about it, the more I view things like the Apilio API as a potential "controller" or "service" that MSR could hook into.
Granted, MSR itself serves many of the same functions as Apilio, in the traditional "if this then that" sense, but one is local and the other cloud-based. I could see them working together to connect a host of far-flung HA components.
Any thoughts?

@librasun I hope that this will not be high on the priority list, since it is a paid cloud service. We need to get our local services MSR and HASS etc. working as intended. There are still some basic functionalities to iron out. I have started to realize in my Vera-MSR-HASS home it is starting to get quite complicated to know how I should use it in the most effective way since entities and rules now are starting to get spread out.

Not heard of this Apilio thing before.
So its like IFTTT for connecting unrelated HA devices and services ?

Yes. They have provisions for logic flow, variable storage (and computation), triggers, etc. It's an IFTTT competitor in the same way Stringify once was. Apilio lets you interface with Tuya, LG, IFTTT (which interoperates rather deeply with Apilio), Webhooks, SmartThings, all the big guns.
It's a paid service but cheap, under $1/mo. for a middle tier account.
