Upgrade advice - upgrade from aarch64 to ARM64 image
T
I'm currently on version 26011. I understand that the aarch64 image is no longer supported. So, I therefore need to update to the ARM64 image. Can anyone possibly suggest how I update my docker compose.yaml file (see below). Ideally I'd like to keep my existing reactions etc. rather than start from scratch. # Multi-System Reactor template docker-compose.yml (version 22160) # # Change the lines indicated by "DO"... # services: reactor: container_name: reactor environment: # DO change the TZ: line to set your local time zone. # See valid TZ list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tz_database_time_zones TZ: GB # # DO NOT change this path. Your directory location is in "source" below. REACTOR_DATA_PREFIX: /var/reactor # DO change the image below to the one you are using (e.g. armv7l or aarch64 for RPi 4) image: toggledbits/reactor:latest-aarch64 restart: "always" expose: - 8111 ports: - 8111:8111 volumes: # DO change the /home/username/reactor below to the directory you created for # your local data; DO NOT change the /var/reactor part - /home/pi/docker/reactor:/var/reactor - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro tmpfs: /tmp

[MSR] Copy&past of actions and/or drag&drop between set/reset
therealdbT
Hey @toggledbits One thing that bothers me while doing work on new systems/new features, is that I cannot copy&paste actions, and I cannot drag&drop between set and resets. #1 is for when I want to copy an action between different rules opened in two separate browser windows, while #2 is when I just need to flip a bunch of actions in the reset, or move some logic back and forth. Both will be appreciated, but I understand the technical challenges. Thanks!

Reactor (Multi-System/Multi-Hub) Announcements
toggledbitsT
Build 21228 has been released. Docker images available from DockerHub as usual, and bare-metal packages here. Home Assistant up to version 2021.8.6 supported; the online version of the manual will now state the current supported versions; Fix an error in OWMWeatherController that could cause it to stop updating; Unify the approach to entity filtering on all hub interface classes (controllers); this works for device entities only; it may be extended to other entities later; Improve error detail in messages for EzloController during auth phase; Add isRuleSet() and isRuleEnabled() functions to expressions extensions; Implement set action for lock and passage capabilities (makes them more easily scriptable in some cases); Fix a place in the UI where 24-hour time was not being displayed.

Deprecation Announcement: 32-bit ARM *docker* images
toggledbitsT
If you are using the armv7l docker image, the OpenJS Foundation that publishes node is no longer producing 32-bit builds as of v24. That means the last supported LTS version of node for armv7l is v22, which will go End-of-Life in May 2027. Therefore, the Reactor armv7l image is now deprecated and will only be produced until node v22 goes EOL, and I will not publish armv7l images beyond that date. If you are running an RPi 3 or earlier with Reactor, you are on this image, and will need to upgrade hardware to a 64-bit model and use the arm64 image. If you need help getting it done, ask in this category.

http request action & digest auth
tunnusT
I’m using the HTTP Request action in MSR and need to authenticate against an endpoint that uses HTTP Digest authentication. Now that endpoint was changed to use SHA-256 in digest auth, so I would like to know if MSR supports it, or is it limited to MD5-based digest auth?

Integrations and 'Loaded'
CatmanV2C
Thanks again for the recent release. One thing I wanted to ask about integrations and their 'loaded' condition: Is there something similar that applies to the entire controller? So if I have (for example) a helper in HA that is used to trigger an automation in MSR, is it possible to effectively exclude it until MSR is 'happy' that HA is stable and its values can be trusted? This, actually goes back to the issue I had. I've got a use case where a 30 second delay from triggering is a bit of a PITA (sustained for...) and was just wondering if there's a way of knowing that 'native' HA functions are working correctly. Probably asking wrong, or it's hideously obvious, but... TIA C

Possible mismatch between binary_sensor in HA and MSR
CatmanV2C
Hi. First off this is an unsupported version of HS 2026.5.2 so happy to be told it's that. Currently running latest-26130-3d2a489a on a Debian Buster bare metal VM. I've been working on moving away from OpenLuup completely and up until now have been using some virtual switches t manage things like 'Is there anyone home' I have a binary sensor in HA that provides the same thing binary_sensor.someone_home which appears in MSR as hass>binary_sensor_someone_home HA shows on or off. MSR shows true or false All fine. The odd thing happened after an update of HA and a restart. From HA 13:07:04 it turned off 13:07:11 it turned on However that does not appear to have been reflected in MSR which turned all the heating and so on off as it is supposed to do, and I got all my notifications as I should. Here's a huge log section (sorry) as I wanted to show how MSR identifies that HA is up and running at 12:07:08 (Zulu) but triggers the 'There's no one here' at 12:07:17 some 6 seconds after HA updated to on. Checking in the interface MSR said the status was 'False' while HA stated 'On' Reactor build 26116: empty group reaction
therealdbT
I have a couple of rules that has group reactions with empty conditions. I notice, in particular on one that's called every 5 secs, that it was not working. I added an empty comment as condition and it started working again. I don't know if saving was enough to "reset" it, but I'm reporting anyway. No errors in the logs, but the MQTT message was not published, so I had an easy path to check the rule. I have others like these, but not easy to test. @toggledbits maybe some stuck status data? (I restarted a couple of times after the last update). Thanks.

    Hi

    I have some devices on my Vera Plus controller that sometimes change to say "Can't detect device".

    I can clear those red banners that show up in the Vera UI7 web GUI, for a device by running some LUA code like this:

    luup.set_failure(0, 331)

    Maybe I can use the new MSR matchEntities to find and detect any devices on Vera that have developed the "Can't detect device" error and then reset them. ?

    I can currently manually specify a particular problem device in a ruleset trigger like this:

    6f789006-ce19-4776-b3dd-290e28e84c8b-image.png

    But if I could have a rule that automatically detects any device that develops this problem that would be better.

    Thanks

      I have a problem device right now an Everspring appliance plug that says "Can't Detect Device".

      b85da59d-999d-443e-9c04-f30d99d6d23a-image.png

      If I run this LUA code on the Vera controller it does clear the red banner from the web GUI but then it comes back again about 20 seconds later, so maybe there is more to it than I thought.

      luup.set_failure(0, 50)

      Normally to fix this issue with this particular smart plug, I have to removed it from the wall outlet and then plug it back in again and then the problem goes away for a good period of time.

        This has recently been covered in other threads, but it would be good to roll up everything so far into one place.

        Create a global expression to find all of the Vera devices with CommFailure <> "0":

        Failed = each id in matchEntities( { capability: 'x_vera_device' } ):
                     ( getEntity(id)?.attributes.x_vera_svc_micasaverde_com_HaDevice1.CommFailure ?# 0 ) !=0 ? id : null

        Now you can do whatever you want with that array. To a create a comma-separated list of names:

        FailedNames = join( each id in Failed: getEntity(id)?.name ?? id, ", " )

        You can then have a rule that just checks to see if FailedNames is not an empty string. Of course, you could combine the two expressions into one for a bit of efficiency (assuming the array Failed has no value other than to drive FailedNames), but separating them may be more clear.

        Through the other conversations we learned that this is best done in global variables because the large potential number of devices involved can cause excessive evaluations of the rule and rule throttling. That is simply a result of getEntity() being used on a large number of entities, and each use of getEntity() adds the target entity to a watch list, so the rule's watch list can become quite large. The global variables will evaluate faster than a rule, and are not subject to throttling (but be aware, a lot of work is still being done).

        Also note that other examples check CommFailure=1 rather than CommFailure<>0. Not recommended. There are defined values of CommFailure other than 0 and 1 that are significant (errors).

        Edit: Amended the expression to handle devices that don't have the CommFailure variable at all (ignore/treat as 0/not failed).

              noticed also that using CommFailure != "0" leads to false positives as not all my z-wave devices have CommFailure variable (but should be safe to add?)

                @tunnus said in How to? Rule for Vera "Can't Detect Device" errors and reset:

                should be "!=" not "<>"

                That then lists some plugin devices and scene controller devices.

                "Fan" device is also listed however and that is the device I am actually have issues with.

                  This works and does list two actual Z-Wave devices that currently have "Can't Detect Device" issues:

                  Batteries on my Thermostat device are currently dead, charging them up at the moment.

                    @tunnus

                    So what are you then doing in your rules actions ? To reset the devices? Or are you just sending yourself notifications about the problem devices?

                      noticed also that using CommFailure != "0" leads to false positives as not all my z-wave devices have CommFailure variable (but should be safe to add?)

                        So what are you then doing in your rules actions ? To reset the devices? Or are you just sending yourself notifications about the problem devices?

                        @cw-kid as you’ve already realized, there’s really not much that can be done (programatically). I use this for notification purposes only

                          @toggledbits Is it the case that CommFailure is only an attribute of the HaDevice1 type. Per the below, I pre-filtered on "x_vera_svc_micasaverde_com_HaDevice1". I had some interesting results from the expression, though I'm still trying to get my head around expression syntax, so the below may be wrong:

                          join(
                            each id in matchEntities( { controller: 'vera', capability: 'x_vera_svc_micasaverde_com_HaDevice1' } ): do
                              e=getEntity( id ),
                              e.attributes.x_vera_svc_micasaverde_com_HaDevice1.CommFailure !=0 ? e.name : null
                            done, ", " )

                          Three of my zwave devices did not have a CommFailure attribute and I suspect, they were incorrectly migrated to my UI7 veraplus from a ui5 veralite. A reconfigure command established the CommFailure attribute for all three.

                          There is one plugin on my vera (it's the only plugin on the vera) that does not have the CommFailure attribute. Does the attribute get added automatically when one installs a plugin? I'm asking in the sense that a re-install might correct the problem but I don't want to mess with anything that isn't obviously broken.

                              @buxton as @toggledbits mentioned, in another conversation (https://smarthome.community/topic/739/logic-loop-throttling/11) we discussed a similar situation, I recommend reading it.

                              And if I can do a suggestion, do not use CommFailure for this evaluation. I did several simulations in the exercise we mentioned, and this attribute fails more than x_vera_device.failed, this one responds faster (true / false).

                              Below is the screen of the test I am using, with the Global variable.

                                @wmarcolin Yes, thanks. I have the data point "x_vera_device.failed" covered with the following expression:

                                join(
                                  each id in matchEntities( { controller: 'vera', capability: 'x_vera_device' } ): do
                                    e=getEntity( id ),
                                    e.attributes.x_vera_device.failed ? e.name  :  null
                                  done, ", " )

                                I was using CommFailure to detect devices that have not been configured properly, and sure enough, I found three on my network.

                                  Yes, I was asking more in general terms about what happens when a plugin gets initialized. And whether CommFailure is a specific attribute of Vera's HaDevice1 type.

                                    @toggledbits These devices that for some reason do not have CommFailure variable set, do you think it is safe to just manually add it? Don't want to do anything too "extensive", like exclusion/inclusion process

                                      Guarding for it in your expressions is the "right" way (example shown in linked post).

                                          You can, but I wouldn't. But I've spent 40 years as a software engineer, and have learned many times over that you don't bend the input to conform to your algorithm, you get the algorithm right, so I'm (probably very predictably) stubborn about that kind of thing. Proper guarding for null (missing data) ensures that the result works always works (e.g. after including new devices or replacing existing, or broken devices/driver/plugin implementations, etc.), and is thus applicable to all users (so the code they see posted here actually works for them to the greatest degree possible without assembling other information or steps that may not be obvious).

                                          If you're guarding properly, there's no need for the extra work and ongoing maintenance.
