Reverse proxy & API ACL
tunnusT
I'm trying to allow anonymous access from a local network to /api/v1/log, but the problem now with the reverse proxy configuration is that this access is open via proxy to the internet. At least I wasn't able to configure ACL so that only an access from a local network would be permitted. reactor.yaml: baseurl: "http://192.168.1.12:8111" proxy_baseurl: "https://external.com:30000" trusted_proxy: "192.168.1.12" Local traffic would originate from 192.168.1.0/24 network. Synology is acting as a reverse proxy and hosting MSR as a docker container (which has its own network and IP 172.18.0.5). MSR build is latest-26298-fbb75fb8 users.yaml: - url: "/api/v1/log" method: "GET" source_ip: 172.18.0.0/24 allow: true Using the above ACL works, but it enables access via proxy also. If I use source_ip: 192.168.1.0/24, then it doesn't work either locally or remotely. So I'm kinda lost what should I use as source_ip in this case?

Grouped devices
G
I've seen many of you using Dynamic Group Controller. I'm using it myself for monitoring device battery levels. I've read and re-read the Dynamic Group Controller docs and still cannot come to an answer for my question so let me paint my scenario: I've migrated from EchoSpeaks in Hubitat ('cause borked and seemingly unmaintained) to Alexa Devices in Home Assistant ('cause not borked in 2026.11.0) to be able to send TTS to my Echo devices. In EchoSpeaks I could create groups. Sweet. In Alexa Devices I don't seem to be able to do so. As such, my thought was "wait - isn't there a way in MSR?" Is this an effective scenario that Dynamic Group Controller can be used for?

Reactor (Multi-System/Multi-Hub) Announcements
toggledbitsT
Build 21228 has been released. Docker images available from DockerHub as usual, and bare-metal packages here. Home Assistant up to version 2021.8.6 supported; the online version of the manual will now state the current supported versions; Fix an error in OWMWeatherController that could cause it to stop updating; Unify the approach to entity filtering on all hub interface classes (controllers); this works for device entities only; it may be extended to other entities later; Improve error detail in messages for EzloController during auth phase; Add isRuleSet() and isRuleEnabled() functions to expressions extensions; Implement set action for lock and passage capabilities (makes them more easily scriptable in some cases); Fix a place in the UI where 24-hour time was not being displayed.

MSR with reverse proxy
tunnusT
I'm trying to use MSR via reserve proxy in Synology DSM, but MSR page does not load https://<public ip>:30000/reactor/en-US/ At the same time logging page loads normally https://<public ip>:30000/api/v1/log I thought maybe authentication was messing it up, but there was no deny entries in the log, and also disabling authentication did not make any difference. For this use case VPN is not an option (that works, but as said not an option for this particular use case). Any ideas what could cause this? MSR build latest-26242-28d69aa8, Chrome browser

[MSR] Native fan capabilty
therealdbT
Nothing more to add. I see we have hvac_blower, but, anyway, maybe a native fan on the same assumptions of the fan from HASS could be reasonable. I have a couple of them. ie, this is from ESPHome via HASS. x_hass.domain="fan" x_hass.entity_id="fan.kitchen_seashell_hood_ventilation_fan" x_hass.floor_id=null x_hass.services=["fan","esphome"] x_hass.source="esphome" x_hass.state="off" x_hass_attr.friendly_name="Seashell Hood Ventilation Fan" x_hass_attr.percentage=50 x_hass_attr.percentage_step=25 x_hass_attr.preset_mode="" x_hass_attr.preset_modes=[] x_hass_attr.supported_features=49 Thanks.

Rule condition shows TRUE in UI but Rule never transitions to SET — survives full restart
N
Build: latest-26221-b25bb3e3, Docker on Synology. Hi, I have a Rule whose Trigger/Constraints reference other Rules via Rule State ... is TRUE. At some point it stops firing. Expanding the rule's condition tree in the UI shows every Trigger and Constraint condition green/TRUE — confirmed live by walking into the room and watching Motion go true in real time. Rule History shows no new SET, just old reset entries. Tried, on the same rule, same evening: recreating the trigger conditions with fresh IDs, recreating the constraint conditions with fresh IDs (flat and wrapped in a new Group — wrapping in a Group produced one SET, but it didn't reproduce on repeat attempts with the same structure), and finally a full container restart with a verified-correct saved rule. Still no SET, even with a fresh live motion event right after the restart. Separately, I found that this rule (and its 10 per-room clones) share identical internal condition/group IDs with each other — leftover from a batch clone done months ago, never regenerated. Not sure if that's related, since fixing the IDs didn't reliably fix the symptom either. Has anyone seen a Rule State condition show TRUE in the UI without the Rule ever producing a SET, surviving a clean restart? Thanks in advance

DynamicGroupController and attributes
therealdbT
Hey @toggledbits I'm back to trying to optimize a couple of things based on dynamic group. First of all, I think I found a typo in the doc: primary_attribute: "binary_sensor.state" primary_attribute_value: | d = false; each id in members: d = getEntity(id)?.attributes?.power_switch?.state or d, d I think the correct code snippet is d = false, All that said, my use case for dynamic groups is to group 3 different climate devices, so I could easily command them at the same time. Commands are good, but sometimes I want to check if any of the devices are on, and that's easily done with a similar snippet as the one you have in the docs. But this is limited to the primary attribute, while I want to have any of the attributes in the group to be driven by a similar logic (while all are null in the group). ie, access hvac_control.mode and see if any of the unit is set to cool, or heat. Is that possible, without re-defining an expression in each of my rules? Thanks!

Unofficial thread for compatibility
tunnusT
As there are statements about compatibility for home assistant versions in MSR new version announcements (e.g. "HassController: Bless Hass to 2025.7.3"), I thought it would be good idea to track other controllers as well. As an example, I can confirm that build "latest-25208-c53e8513" works with Hubitat Elevation C-8 platform version 2.4.2.134 using Maker API. Updates: (the latest versions first in the list) OK: build "latest-25264-2fbe9217" with Hubitat C-8 platform v. 2.4.3.123

I accidentally deleted Reactor Ex Machina II (REM II) from my Reactor rules. I tried to recover it by deleting the .json and .dval in the Rules subdirectory and then recreating it from Togglebits original posting, but that did not work. Does anyone know how to recover REM ll ?

[Solved] DynamicGroupController updating members issue
CrilleC
Edit: Solved in latest-26221. Bare-metal latest-26193 I have this group: "OKforLarm": name: OK för Larm select: - include_controller: vera - include_capability: door_sensor filter_expression: entity.attributes.door_sensor.state It contains the entities I expect but behaves a bit odd. When I open vera>device_10097 the entity attribute door_sensor.state changes to true but it won't show up as member in the group, when I also open vera>device_10095 they both shows as members and when I close vera>device_10095 it disappear from the group but when I close vera>device_10097 it lingers in the group until I restart Reactor.

Reading the help page it shows this example config. I don't know what this channel number does? I didn't see a setting for setting a channel number in the Tasmota web UI. However I see there is a "channel" I saw in the data stream in the terminal mine mentioned channel 10. So I tried adding that also into my config.

EDIT: Current Control Channel: 10 appears to be the current 2.4GHZ WIFI channel of my router, its set to AUTO so that channel will change or "channel" in the reactor.yaml something different?

    config:
        source: "mqtt://127.0.0.1:1883/"
        entities:
          shelly1_stairway:
            name: "Stairway Light"
            topic: shelly1_43DFD2
            include: shelly_relay
            channel: 0

    - id: mqtt
      enabled: true
      implementation: MQTTController
      name: Mosquitto
      config:
        source: mqtt://127.0.0.1:1883
log_topics: ['tele','stat','tasmota'] # only for testing, disable when not in use (makes big log file)
        entities:
          tasmota_fan_controller:
          name: "Tasmota Fan Controller"
topic: fan_controller # matches topic configured in Tasmota
unit: 1 # relay number on the device
          include:
              - tasmota_generic_relay
              - tasmota_sensor_temperature_humidity
          channel: 10

Didn't help however adding Channel still no new entities appearing.

    Just seen this also:

"notably Tasmota, do not have MQTT retain on by default (a poor choice for IoT devices, IMO). On Tasmota devices, you can turn it on by using the PowerRetain on, SwitchRetain on, SensorRetain on and StateRetain on commands in the Tasmota console."

I will run those commands now.

When asking AI, be sure to send the docs, the exact page. It will be more precise. All that said, here's my config

        controllers:
          - id: mqtt
            name: MQTT
            enabled: true
            implementation: MQTTController
            config:
              # omitted...
              entities:
                # dehum
                tasmota_dehumidifier:
                  name: "Dehum - sensors"
                  include: tasmota_sensor_temperature_humidity
                  topic: "tasmota-dehum"
                  source: SI7021
                tasmota_dehumidifier_switch:
                  name: "Dehum - switch"
                  include: tasmota_generic_relay
                  topic: "tasmota-dehum"
                  unit: ""

You could probably consolidate them, but I prefer to have the switch and the sensors separated: it's easier to start and to manage them.

In you case, as per the post, topic: "tasmota-dehum" should be topic: "fan_controller", while sourceshould beAM2301`.

@cw_kid in your post here the configuration you posted is incorrect -- the indenting is invalid, and that will prevent anything from working for that entity.

Honestly, I can't at this stage really get a read on where you are. Between you jumping in with random AI changes and others commenting, your config is a moving target and I can't follow it. If you want my help, I will send you a link so you can upload your config and I can look at it and potentially fix it. Otherwise, I'll let you continue to learn on your own and seek help from others.

Clearly the problem is I don't know how to structure or write the required yaml code. Following @therealdb example above, I changed mine to this:

            - id: mqtt
              name: Mosquitto
              enabled: true
              implementation: MQTTController
              config:
                entities:
                  tasmota_fan_controller_temp:
                    name: "Stairs Cupboard Temp"
                    include: tasmota_sensor_temperature_humidity
                    topic: "fan_controller"
                    source: AM2301

I could then finally see an Entity for it in MSR for the Temp sensor. But with no data values as yet its null.

            3be32b4c-b33b-45ff-8ae3-d65919cf79d3-image.png

That obviously only imported the DHT22 (AM230) Temp sensor part.

I then tried to add this to also include the 1 channel Relay part.

            - id: mqtt
              name: Mosquitto
              enabled: true
              implementation: MQTTController
              config:
                entities:
                  tasmota_fan_controller_temp:
                    name: "Stairs Cupboard Temp"
                    include: tasmota_sensor_temperature_humidity
                    topic: "fan_controller"
                    source: AM2301
                  tasmota_fan_controller_relay:
                    name: "Stairs Cupboard Fan"
                    include: tasmota_generic_relay
                    topic: "fan_controller"
                    source:
                    unit: "1"

            b2597ede-2af6-4572-8e09-c5d87da9ebcd-image.png

The relay part seems to be working! I pressed the "Perform" button and was able to turn on and off the relay / fan OK.

Seems I didn't need a "Source:" for the relay portion, I left that blank as I didn't know what to put in there anyway.

So just not sure why I have no data from the Temp sensor currently.

Its working now, a wire came off the ESP board for the DHT22 which is why it was null. I connected the wire again and now I see data in MSR.

So this seems to be the now working yaml code:

Thanks for everyone help, I just needed a nudge in the right direction with the MSR yaml code.

What else can I build! I have loads of spare ESP boards and sensors laying around the place, what I was using when trying out "EzloPi" but I am gonna switch to Tasmota / MSR and eventually Home Assistant when I retire my Vera Plus for Z-Wave duties.

Sweet everything appears to be working now, I created some virtual devices in Vera for the Temp and Humidity and some new MSR rules to push those values to them in Vera if they change.

Updated my Home Remote dashboard and I can see them on my phone now and also have a switch to turn the Fan on and off..

@cw-kid I have them with lux, barometric, distance, and temp/humidity sensors, while also using a couple as Bluetooth bridges. in this regard, your fantasy is the real limit.

I've recently moved everything I could to ZWave, because it is better in terms of stability, but ATM there's no equivalent for fancy sensors, even if ZigBee has a denter offer.

Actually I do have one issue: power_switch.state=null

It seems MSR is not seeing what the state of the relay currently is? Which is causing me an issue now in a rule I am trying to create.

If I run this command in terminal on the MSR / MQTT broker box

                        :~mosquitto_sub -v -t 'tele/fan_controller/#' -t 'stat/fan_controller/#'

                        I see this:

                        tele/fan_controller/LWT Online
                        tele/fan_controller/STATE {"Time":"2026-02-16T18:38:48","Uptime":"0T03:13:09","UptimeSec":11589,"Heap":113,"SleepMode":"Dynamic","Sleep":50,"LoadAvg":19,"MqttCount":1,"Berry":{"HeapUsed":4,"Objects":50},"POWER":"OFF","Wifi":{"AP":1,"SSId":"ASUS_86_2G","BSSId":"04:D9:F5:74:C5:E0","Channel":3,"Mode":"HT40","RSSI":100,"Signal":-20,"LinkCount":1,"Downtime":"0T00:00:04"},"Hostname":"Stairs-Cupboard-Fan-ESP32","IPAddress":"192.168.0.49"}
                        tele/fan_controller/SENSOR {"Time":"2026-02-16T18:38:48","AM2301":{"Temperature":21.2,"Humidity":47.9,"DewPoint":9.7},"TempUnit":"C"}
                        stat/fan_controller/POWER OFF

                        stat/fan_controller/POWER OFF

Which is correct, the fan is currently off.

So maybe the yaml code is not quite right if its not seeing the state of the relay.

I can turn on / off the relay however via MSR so it is talking to it somewhat.

This is what is in the reactor.yaml file currently.

                        - id: mqtt

Looking at the HTTP output for everything from the Tasmota, I see these snippets.

"StatusSTS" - seems to contain the state of the relay e.g. "POWER":"ON"

                          "StatusSTS":{"Time":"2026-02-16T18:58:25","Uptime":"0T03:32:46","UptimeSec":12766,"Heap":106,"SleepMode":"Dynamic","Sleep":50,"LoadAvg":19,"MqttCount":1,"Berry":{"HeapUsed":4,"Objects":50},"POWER":"ON","Wifi":{"AP":1,"SSId":"ASUS_86_2G","BSSId":"04:D9:F5:74:C5:E0","Channel":3,"Mode":"HT40","RSSI":100,"Signal":-19,"LinkCount":1,"Downtime":"0T00:00:04"},"Hostname":"Stairs-Cupboard-Fan-ESP32","IPAddress":"192.168.0.49"}}

Where as "StatusSNS" contains the Temp data.

                          "StatusSNS":{"Time":"2026-02-16T18:58:25","AM2301":{"Temperature":19.8,"Humidity":50.3,"DewPoint":9.1},"TempUnit":"C"},

So it seems MSR doesn't know where to find the relay status / state currently? and I am not sure how to fix it.

As a guess I tried adding source "POWER" to the relay section of the yaml but didn't seem to work and bring in the "ON" or "OFF" value.

                          tasmota_fan_controller_relay:
                                  name: "Stairs Cupboard Fan"
                                  include: tasmota_generic_relay
                                  topic: "fan_controller"
                                  source: "POWER"
                                  unit: "1"

I was poking around the file system to find these Tasmota default templates. I see this folder but its empty.

                          /home/stuart/reactor/config/mqtt_templates

I do see a file called tasmota.yaml however in this folder.

                          /home/stuart/reactor/ext/MQTTController/templates

EDIT: I just fixed it by changing unit: "1" to unit: "" in the reactor.yaml.
It now say "false" for power state in the Entites area. I thought I had to put a 1 in unit because in Tasmota somewhere, I saw the Relay was number 1.

Tasmota has this inconsistency where if there's only one relay configured, it does not include the relay number; if more than one, then it adds it. There's no way for the template to know how many relays are configured, so you found the correct fix.

@toggledbits I plan to add a second relay or replace it with a dual relay board, so will see how that works out with these Unit numbers.
