'Random' lights turning on
-
I thought I had created a topic on this some time back, but can't find it to close the loop.
The issue was the lights on my drive appeared to be randomly switching on, with nothing from MSR logging and just a simple 'turn this on' in Openluup logs.
Finally got to the bottom of it this morning, which might help someone.
Turns out that somehow Alexa has decided that my drive lights are part of my Living room. If I tell her 'Living room lights on' the drive lights also come on. And if I tell her to turn them off, they also go off.
Which is madness because they are NOT in the living room group.
Current solution is to disable the drive lights in the Alexa app, which is fine as I never need to voice control them.

Very bizarre, but I'm not going to troubleshoot Alexa!
I had to actually think about the answer to the next bit. One of the things that worries me about my system and its integrations, it mostly just worked, and I forget how!
Anyway: HA bridge. So several virtual devices that emulate Philips Hue devices. Alexa can see those natively, and HA bridge just makes an http call.
I think the same set up would work with Siri, but have never checked, although I;m an Apple user, I standardised on Alexa

This way madness lies! I spoke too soon.
If I speak to another Alexa device and say 'Living room lights on', all the lights in the living room come on correctly. (And the drive lights stay off)
If I say to the Alexa device in the living room 'Turn the lights on' all the lights go on including the drive lights even though they are disabled in the app!
Insanity.
Appears to be fixed by adding the Drive lights to the Living room area, saving, then deleting them. We shall see!

In Alexa there is an option that it 'learns' from 'your behavior'. When I turned that off and removed the rules it created for that 'feature' this spook behavior stopped. I would look into the rules on your Alexa, you may find some you do not remember creating.

You had to ask
Have a look here https://www.amazonforum.com/s/question/0D56Q0000BafbkqSQA/alexa-created-routine-on-its-own

You are a gent sir, but I have no routines other than the single one I made (which works fine and has nothing to do with the the drive lights)
Very odd. I can delete the instance from HA bridge (or send it to a duff device ID for testing I guess)
Cheers
