Hi,
For the standard capabilities MSR sends both a value record and a units record to InfluxDB. The latter I would like not to send as they are not really any use for me and it will reduce the number of records send to my InfluxDB.
Is there a quick way to do this with a filter_entities line like: *>units?
Or do I have to update all capabilities to read like this:
power_sensor:
attributes:
value: true
Cheers Rene
I'm trying to replicate this
wallbox_set_number.PNG
into a MQTT entity where I could set a number with a min and max value.
I can't find a standard capability that fits or any documentation on local MQTT capabilities and the only post on the forum mentioning local MQTT capabilities is this post, is it even possible in current release?
My trial and error work in local_mqtt_capabilities.yaml isn't much to show as it's just a copy of mqtt_capabilities.yaml with changed names and then I got stuck.
Any guidance, examples, documentation, future feature request or denial would be much appreciated, thanks!
Reactor 24057-e9add9f5 bare metal
MQTTController 24050
Build 21228 has been released. Docker images available from DockerHub as usual, and bare-metal packages here.
Home Assistant up to version 2021.8.6 supported; the online version of the manual will now state the current supported versions; Fix an error in OWMWeatherController that could cause it to stop updating; Unify the approach to entity filtering on all hub interface classes (controllers); this works for device entities only; it may be extended to other entities later; Improve error detail in messages for EzloController during auth phase; Add isRuleSet() and isRuleEnabled() functions to expressions extensions; Implement set action for lock and passage capabilities (makes them more easily scriptable in some cases); Fix a place in the UI where 24-hour time was not being displayed.Hi guys,
I've recently bought a new Govee outdoor permanent lights set, and I love it. WAF is pretty high, and the product is good quality. I hope to never run lights in the front of the house.
This new addition has found me searching for something to control these lights, locally. Govee has officials remote and LAN APIs and Home Assistant has it supported, but some undocumented stuff that's integrated into an Homebridge plugin that seems very promising. Without this plugin, my playlist is orchestrated via the cloud and that makes zero sense.
In the past I got some inspiration from plugins running on other platforms and Homebridge seems one of the most active. I could map its devices via HomeKit-local on HA, but I've decommissioned Homebridge years ago when we settled to Alexa (and I want to stay simple), so I had an idea: why get inspiration and rewrite things, when you could write an Homebridge adapter that could load any Homebridge plugin and run them natively under Reactor (MSR)?
I'm not sure if that's viable or made any sense, so I'm posting here to get feedback, encouragement and your thoughts. Anyone could be potentially interested in such a thing?
This system has been running flawlessly year after year for the time changes twice a year literally since MSR came out so I was caught off-guard when this happened this morning.
Time in MSR browser is EST, time on RPi is local time (DST).

I've rebooted the RPi I've restarted MSR after double-checking the time on the RPi. Used a completely different browser to eliminate any caching concerns. Double-checked MSR reactor.yamla5f23151-d691-4343-8499-8e77a55528e5-image.png
What am I missing here @toggledbits ?
Hi- looking for a hint in where to start. My goal is to set a PIN code in a zwave kwikset lock triggered in a rule.
The device isn’t exposing methods to help. The x-hass.call-service looks promising, but what would the service name be?
Plan b would be send the zwave controller a config command- I don’t see any way to explicitly send a command through JS Zwave in my environment.
Running reactor bare metal. JS Zwave is running as an add on inside HASS OS.
Any tips are appreciated.
Hey crew, I'm trying to use MSR to control the RGB values of a Z-Wave bulb in Home Assistant.
Problem I'm running into - I would like to use 'rgb_color.set' to control this, but it doesn't work, instead it always passes the values '255,255,255' to HA no matter what values I enter within MSR.
More notes and examples below - I'm wondering if this is a formatting issue that I'm missing? Thanks for any help!
NOTES FROM TROUBLESHOOTING:
'rgb_color.set_rgb' works successfully, which seems strange. You'd think they would both be affected I've tried a couple different formats, like adding quotes, adding/removing spaces between the RGB values, nothing has fixed it.EXAMPLES:
When I use 'rgb_color.set_rgb', the values successfully carry over to Home Assistant:

But when I use 'rgb_color.set', the values DO NOT successfully carry over to Home Assistant:

Core 2024.2.5 Supervisor 2024.02.1 Operating System 12.0Hi,
I’m running MSR in a docker container on my Synology Nas. The container is automatically updated using watchtower weekly.
It was working. Now, after the update, Reactor webpage is able to load, and all indications on the webpage suggests that it is working fine. However, the updated statuses from Home Assistant and Vera are not being detected.
The container logs show the following error

Noticed right away last night at closing time that the open/close had become inverted with the update to v23326.
It wasn't an awful bit of lift to change all Reactions to reflect the change but it was jarring initially when everything flipped.
Are there release notes on that version, @toggledbits ?
Installing latest-24052-d039d560 and I did a dumb thing: moving too quickly, I deleted package.json instead of package-lock.json because the latter didn't exist.
Ran the installer script - but in the wrong directory so I moved package.json manually.
Everything has come back EXCEPT for my MQTT Cloud OwnTracks entities. They're erroring because of this:

(Don't heckle my folder structure - it's run this way for three years)
reactor.yaml is fine, all MQTT configs exactly as they should be.
The folder mqtt_templates is present:

The file it says is "unreadable" is present and hasn't changed (today's date is the Changed date because I did a quick nonsense edit to see that it was not corrupted in some way).

I was using this method here by @therealdb to run Lua Code from MSR on my Vera Plus but it seems to have stopped working now.
Its the one where you uploaded a file called VeraScenes.lua to your Vera hub and then you could call functions of that file to run particular bits of Lua code from an MSR reaction etc.

This was working well for a long time but I noticed today its not working now.

Hello all, I am trying to create a timer in home assistant that will run for the amount of seconds left in the day. To do so, my plan is to create an expression in MSR where I subtract the seconds elapsed in the day from 86400. From there I will run a service command to start the timer for the seconds I calculated in the expression. I have tried using the time () function in MSR but cannot figure out a way to just get the time elapsed today and in seconds.
I really like these new widgets in MSR status page! Still, at least for the history-widgets, a filtering capability would be helpful. I have quite a many rules running with short intervals and they are clogging these lists making it harder to see "more interesting" ones...
Can file a request in Mantis, if there's wider support for the idea?
Hey Patrick, was wondering you could add the option to be able to disable each individual action. Often when I am testing new actions for my rules I have to copy the rule and then edit it, then once I am happy I have to copy the new actions back to the original rule. It also would be useful for situations when I need to disable certain actions for whatever reason, ie a device not working correctly. I know I can copy complete rules over and make whatever edits and then disable the old rule but it sometimes makes for a lot of different version of a rule that I am testing.
Good morning,
I'm running Home Assistant with MSR, and I do my automation strictly within MSR. I have some basic notifications set up, for instance, when my dishwasher has completed it's cycle, it'll send my iPhone a push notification via the x_haas.system.call_service --> notify.mobile_iphone action.
I saw in the Home Assistant documentation that you can push Actionable Notifications. The example they use if there is motion detection, but no one is home, you can sound an alarm or silence an alarm.
Can this be done from MSR and not directly in Home Assistant? I'd like to do something more of an acknowledgement, like if a door or window is left open, to have a way to get notified, but acknowledge that it is open, and not send any more notifications. If not acknowledged, the notification will continue every 5 or 10 minutes until the door or window is closed, or the notification is acknowledged. This would be useful in situations where I may have a slider door open for some fresh air, so it was deliberate, versus an entry door that didn't latch when entering or leaving the house.
Hi (fourth draft to simplify as I solve problems...)
My MSR is installed from the HASS add on store.
The Docker container did not have SSH client installed.
I was able to get SSH installed and setup keys on a remote worker server for password free SSH logins.
I now have a shell command that sends commands to the remote worker server. It renders content to a tidbyt LED matrix display.
Does anyone know if this will survive an update of the Reactor addon? Will the updated docker image wipe SSH and the private keys stored in the Reactor Docker Container?
Also - is it better to just move Reactor over to the worker server and manage my own updates?
I am using HAOS - Core-2024.1.2, Supervisor 2023.12.0, OS 11.3
I just installed the Reactor plugin for home assistant and tried to move my configuration by copying the reactor-data files to the same location in the home assistant files. Unfortunately this does not work.
I tried rebooting, restarting but the reactor in home assistant stays clean. I tried adding some rules, they do stick but I soo no difference in the reactor-files.
I guess I am missing something very obvious???
No idea what however.... So I would appreciate some pointers.
Warm regards
Hans
Running MSR latest-23344-ca53d088 within a Docker.
My Hubitat (HE) hub suffered almost a 4 day outage from a corrupt backup that failed to restore. During this time I had my MSR docker stopped. Well, I didn't stop it until the the hub had been down for 24 hours. Anyway, I finally got the hub back online this morning and am fixing my MSR rules for everything that was lost. Support needed to purge out the Apps section of the backup.
So my issue. So far everything I have fixed is working as expected, with the exception of my motion controllers. I can see them go "Active" within my HE, but the Entity within MSR never changes from false to true. I ran through a slew of rooms that have motion sensors and only 1 out of 6 changed to true.
I removed the sensor I'm testing with from Maker API, restarted MSR, re-added it, restarted MSR, but no difference. I then Deleted it from MSR and restarted MSR. It was re-added, but again no change. How can I go about testing this further to find out why/what is going on?
Reactor logic talk
-
I think most who play with automation logic comes to a point where the most logical (pun) solution evades us - this thread is for helping eachother making good logic.
My issue of the day:
I have a "night light" reactor that is supposed to turn on a very low level of lighting (navigation light) in the living room if there is movement when all lights are off.
I want it to turn it on for 30 seconds, then off.
Right now it senses on Motion Sensor, daylight(to see if its nessecary), and that all lights are off.
it then turns on some lights, then a Delay for 30 seconds, then turn off.
When however my wife wakes up early, walks in and trips the sensor, and then turns on all the lights, the reactor is already in the delay phase, and subsequently turns off the lights. (WAF killer)
I didn't want to use the Delay in the action, but i couldn't find a way to detect "x have been active for 30 seconds" or similar to keep it on?
(i'm still in openLuup Reactor on this one, but i think the problem is common for both)
-
My immediate reaction (if you'll pardon that pun!) is to notice that you have two competing Triggers:
Tripped == 1
and
Tripped (changes) (any) to (any)Naturally, that pair will ONLY become true when Tripped == 1 immediately after == 0. Hence, you may as well not have the 2nd trigger.
There's more to say, but wanted to lead with that basic fact. -
My gut tells me you might want to put something in the isFALSE Activity of your Reactor, which will automatically terminate the isTRUE one. When your wife turns on a light, we know that makes the Trigger section become FALSE (because now NOT "All the lights are off"). In which case you don't want the remainder of your isTRUE section to execute.
Having one or more actions in the isFALSE should accomplish this.
-
hmm.. but if I have "turn off night lights" in the IsFALSE, and the light is manually turned on (in day mode - more light) after this condition is True and night light is on, it will turn them back off immediately..
A bit difficult to explain properly, but in essence i need a way to interrupt this automation on manual input..
-
No, don't put any of your "Turn off" actions in the isFALSE. Put something else (a Comment may even suffice?), anything that won't impact this workflow negatively. So long as isFALSE is non-empty, it will behave as I've described above... effectively truncating the isTRUE Activity the moment the Reactor's AND group goes false (e.g. when wife turns on any light).
-
Generally, using delays in activities isn't going to get you where you are going, I find.
Most people want the lights to go on when motion is sensed, but to remain on until motion has not been sensed for some period of time. That's a two-part problem that you can solve in one step in Reactor.
Let's ignore the time of day component and just focus on the motion for a moment. If you just have a condition to check if the motion sensor is tripped, it will be true when the sensor signals tripped, and reset to false when the motion sensor untrips. So it's pretty clear, you can use that true edge to turn on the lights. The way you get the delay for the off is by using a "delay reset" option on the condition. The delay reset option lets you hold the condition in true state for a period of time after the underlying test has gone false. If you set the reset delay to the amount of time you want the lights to be on in response to motion, and have the false activity turn the light off, then the light will go on when the motion sensor trips, and then at some point after the motion sensor untrips, the delay will kick in and leave the lights alone until the delay expires, and at that point, the condition goes false, the false activity runs (or reset reaction in MSR) and the light goes out. An additional effect of the delay reset option is that if there are several tripped-untripped transitions from the motion sensor during the delay period, indicating someone is still moving about in the sensor's path, the delay is extended, so it's a convenient way to make sure the lights don't just blindly go off after 30 seconds while someone is still standing in the room.
To get the time of day restriction, depends on whether you are doing it in Reactor for Luup (which seems to be what's in the screenshots), or MSR (this category).
- For Reactor for Luup: I would wrap the motion condition in a group, then add the date/time condition as a sibling to the group. Then open condition options for the group, and set the "Condition must occur after" to the date/time condition.
- For MSR: The motion sensor condition and option goes into Triggers, and the date/time condition goes into Constraints (no option needed).
Here's what that looks like in Reactor for Luup:
Note the above screen shot is showing the condition options for the group containing the motion sensor condition. The motion sensor condition itself is not shown because the options are open for display/edit.
-
Having good logic sometimes depend on wether what you want to do is smart.
This may be one where i save myself some hassle by just delaying from untrip, as suggested. Thanks.Didn't know that an the False action would interfere with/stop the execution of True group, is that a fact in MSR as well?
I took the liberty to discuss the old reactor in this forum, as i'm suspended from the forum for that one. This thread is however for reactor logic in general, but i realise there may be different approaches in the two..
-
Yes, same in both. The reason is this: if you have the set reaction do something, often the reset reaction is used to undo it. Having both running at the same time, which could happen otherwise, may lead to undesirable effects.
On Reactor for Luup, you can add a separate group and check to see if your main logic group is false, and if so, run its activities. Since these actions are in a separate group, they are not pre-empted.
In MSR, you make a rule to see if the main rule is false, and have its reaction do what it needs to. Same effect.
-
-
Yeah, that double-trigger probably stems from a misunderstanding of how Reactor works. Reactor acts on changes, not states. So if you have a trigger that checks temperature >= 50, and it goes 49... 50... 51... it will of course go true at 50, and that's when action happens, because the trigger state changes from false to true at that point, but when the temperature goes from 50 to 51, the result of the test is still as true at 51 as it was at 50, so that's no change in state, so no action.
-
I've now taken this one over to MSR, and one part of the problem is still not solved. The Constraints i have is not time of day, its wether someone turned the lights on in the room. This may happen when the motion trigger have been set, and that means that it will turn the lights off at reset, which at this point have been turned on to stay on..
I think i may have to go back to having the actions in the "set" category, with the delay, in order to be able to intervene the "reset" of the motion sensor state?
One other option is to have another rule for "night light Off", and evaluate Off separately..
-
I would choose opposing rules over delays. I think the topic of handling "manual on" is well-covered in the other forums. The gist is that you can do a little work with an expression variable to track whether the light is being turned on because the switch itself is changing state when there's no motion detection (manual mode), or if motion is detected when the switch is off (automatic mode).
It does have a caveat though: there's little chance of consistent success if the switch used to turn the lights on manually is in the detection area of the motion sensor, as this usually means the motion sensor sees you before you get to the switch, so the automatic on is already happening before you touch it.
-
It works well now with separate rules for on and off, where "OFF" has the same constraints as "ON", and "OFF" has "ON"-rule changes to false as trigger.
Now, the autolight (which turns on a very low dimming level) turn on, and if someone manually turns the light on at this point, the light goes to the dimming level chosen.
(In this case its not the switch connected to one light that is pressed, its a virtual switch that turns on multiple lights.) -
