I need a handful of victims volunteers to help test previews of the next build of Reactor. A long-standing request was for "a simple login mechanism," but in practice, adding user authentication and competent access control turned out to be a pretty big project with a lot of big changes on both server and client sides. It's a bit more than I'm comfortable testing myself and springing out to everyone at once, so I'd like to work with a small group to put it through "sea trials."
Major changes/features include:
User authentication with hashed password storage; User group configuration with application restriction (admin, dashboard, API); Detailed control over API access, with user- and token-based authentication/authorization; Improvements to the HTTPS service; Improvements to UI coordination with the core for Rules and Reactions. If this sounds like something you'd like to help with, drop me a reply here in this thread or privately.
Good morning,
So Home Assistant decided to change the default weather home format that I've been using for the past year and a half. I had two Global Expressions set up to pull the high and low temp forecast for the day. Now it's pulling null values.
094c9205-cc9e-4fcc-ac4f-1bf54acea299-image.png
In the dev tools, it now uses a new service (Weather. get forecasts), plural, where the old Weather.get forecast is depreciated and now longer functions.
8c7a1fcc-dd3f-4268-a0b7-29d542f86adc-image.png
It shows a templow field, and a temperature field, which I presume is the forecast high.
When I head back over to MSR, I'm having a hard time finding those values in the Entities tab.

Build 21228 has been released. Docker images available from DockerHub as usual, and bare-metal packages here.
Home Assistant up to version 2021.8.6 supported; the online version of the manual will now state the current supported versions; Fix an error in OWMWeatherController that could cause it to stop updating; Unify the approach to entity filtering on all hub interface classes (controllers); this works for device entities only; it may be extended to other entities later; Improve error detail in messages for EzloController during auth phase; Add isRuleSet() and isRuleEnabled() functions to expressions extensions; Implement set action for lock and passage capabilities (makes them more easily scriptable in some cases); Fix a place in the UI where 24-hour time was not being displayed.Hey Patrick, I recently have been noticing that MSR has been acting up ie. it's been needing restarts and has been slow. I began trouble shooting by looking at the logs and have noticed the following errors for a lot of entities. I thought maybe a simple reboot of RPi was needed and I kept seeing the same errors in the system logs. I am oddly enough not seeing these same errors in the MSR logs. Where things started getting weird is whenever I rebooted MSR it wouldn't come back online .I would have to restart the RPi then it would come back online. I just restarted MSR again to capture logs and it restarted fine, so I guess its good for now? I think this is more or so a corrupted SD card issue rather a MSR issue but well being troubleshooting from here. The SD card is about 1-2 years old.
Apologies if this post is everywhere, I cannot consistently recreate any oddities that are happening, that's what is leading me to believe my SD is going bad.
PS: If anyone knows how to diagnose a corrupt SD card please chime in.

This system has been running flawlessly year after year for the time changes twice a year literally since MSR came out so I was caught off-guard when this happened this morning.
Time in MSR browser is EST, time on RPi is local time (DST).

I've rebooted the RPi I've restarted MSR after double-checking the time on the RPi. Used a completely different browser to eliminate any caching concerns. Double-checked MSR reactor.yamla5f23151-d691-4343-8499-8e77a55528e5-image.png

Hi,
For the standard capabilities MSR sends both a value record and a units record to InfluxDB. The latter I would like not to send as they are not really any use for me and it will reduce the number of records send to my InfluxDB.
Is there a quick way to do this with a filter_entities line like: *>units?
Or do I have to update all capabilities to read like this:
power_sensor:
attributes:
value: true
Cheers Rene
I'm trying to replicate this
wallbox_set_number.PNG
into a MQTT entity where I could set a number with a min and max value.
I can't find a standard capability that fits or any documentation on local MQTT capabilities and the only post on the forum mentioning local MQTT capabilities is this post, is it even possible in current release?
My trial and error work in local_mqtt_capabilities.yaml isn't much to show as it's just a copy of mqtt_capabilities.yaml with changed names and then I got stuck.
Any guidance, examples, documentation, future feature request or denial would be much appreciated, thanks!

Hi guys,
I've recently bought a new Govee outdoor permanent lights set, and I love it. WAF is pretty high, and the product is good quality. I hope to never run lights in the front of the house.
This new addition has found me searching for something to control these lights, locally. Govee has officials remote and LAN APIs and Home Assistant has it supported, but some undocumented stuff that's integrated into an Homebridge plugin that seems very promising. Without this plugin, my playlist is orchestrated via the cloud and that makes zero sense.
In the past I got some inspiration from plugins running on other platforms and Homebridge seems one of the most active. I could map its devices via HomeKit-local on HA, but I've decommissioned Homebridge years ago when we settled to Alexa (and I want to stay simple), so I had an idea: why get inspiration and rewrite things, when you could write an Homebridge adapter that could load any Homebridge plugin and run them natively under Reactor (MSR)?
I'm not sure if that's viable or made any sense, so I'm posting here to get feedback, encouragement and your thoughts. Anyone could be potentially interested in such a thing?
Hi- looking for a hint in where to start. My goal is to set a PIN code in a zwave kwikset lock triggered in a rule.
The device isn’t exposing methods to help. The x-hass.call-service looks promising, but what would the service name be?
Plan b would be send the zwave controller a config command- I don’t see any way to explicitly send a command through JS Zwave in my environment.
Running reactor bare metal. JS Zwave is running as an add on inside HASS OS.
Any tips are appreciated.
Hey crew, I'm trying to use MSR to control the RGB values of a Z-Wave bulb in Home Assistant.
Problem I'm running into - I would like to use 'rgb_color.set' to control this, but it doesn't work, instead it always passes the values '255,255,255' to HA no matter what values I enter within MSR.
More notes and examples below - I'm wondering if this is a formatting issue that I'm missing? Thanks for any help!
NOTES FROM TROUBLESHOOTING:
'rgb_color.set_rgb' works successfully, which seems strange. You'd think they would both be affected I've tried a couple different formats, like adding quotes, adding/removing spaces between the RGB values, nothing has fixed it.EXAMPLES:
When I use 'rgb_color.set_rgb', the values successfully carry over to Home Assistant:

But when I use 'rgb_color.set', the values DO NOT successfully carry over to Home Assistant:

Core 2024.2.5 Supervisor 2024.02.1 Operating System 12.0Hi,
I’m running MSR in a docker container on my Synology Nas. The container is automatically updated using watchtower weekly.
It was working. Now, after the update, Reactor webpage is able to load, and all indications on the webpage suggests that it is working fine. However, the updated statuses from Home Assistant and Vera are not being detected.
The container logs show the following error

Noticed right away last night at closing time that the open/close had become inverted with the update to v23326.
It wasn't an awful bit of lift to change all Reactions to reflect the change but it was jarring initially when everything flipped.
Are there release notes on that version, @toggledbits ?
Installing latest-24052-d039d560 and I did a dumb thing: moving too quickly, I deleted package.json instead of package-lock.json because the latter didn't exist.
Ran the installer script - but in the wrong directory so I moved package.json manually.
Everything has come back EXCEPT for my MQTT Cloud OwnTracks entities. They're erroring because of this:

reactor.yaml is fine, all MQTT configs exactly as they should be.

The file it says is "unreadable" is present and hasn't changed (today's date is the Changed date because I did a quick nonsense edit to see that it was not corrupted in some way).

I was using this method here by @therealdb to run Lua Code from MSR on my Vera Plus but it seems to have stopped working now.
Its the one where you uploaded a file called VeraScenes.lua to your Vera hub and then you could call functions of that file to run particular bits of Lua code from an MSR reaction etc.

Hello all, I am trying to create a timer in home assistant that will run for the amount of seconds left in the day. To do so, my plan is to create an expression in MSR where I subtract the seconds elapsed in the day from 86400. From there I will run a service command to start the timer for the seconds I calculated in the expression. I have tried using the time () function in MSR but cannot figure out a way to just get the time elapsed today and in seconds.
I really like these new widgets in MSR status page! Still, at least for the history-widgets, a filtering capability would be helpful. I have quite a many rules running with short intervals and they are clogging these lists making it harder to see "more interesting" ones...
Can file a request in Mantis, if there's wider support for the idea?
Hey Patrick, was wondering you could add the option to be able to disable each individual action. Often when I am testing new actions for my rules I have to copy the rule and then edit it, then once I am happy I have to copy the new actions back to the original rule. It also would be useful for situations when I need to disable certain actions for whatever reason, ie a device not working correctly. I know I can copy complete rules over and make whatever edits and then disable the old rule but it sometimes makes for a lot of different version of a rule that I am testing.
Good morning,
I'm running Home Assistant with MSR, and I do my automation strictly within MSR. I have some basic notifications set up, for instance, when my dishwasher has completed it's cycle, it'll send my iPhone a push notification via the x_haas.system.call_service --> notify.mobile_iphone action.
I saw in the Home Assistant documentation that you can push Actionable Notifications. The example they use if there is motion detection, but no one is home, you can sound an alarm or silence an alarm.
Can this be done from MSR and not directly in Home Assistant? I'd like to do something more of an acknowledgement, like if a door or window is left open, to have a way to get notified, but acknowledge that it is open, and not send any more notifications. If not acknowledged, the notification will continue every 5 or 10 minutes until the door or window is closed, or the notification is acknowledged. This would be useful in situations where I may have a slider door open for some fresh air, so it was deliberate, versus an entry door that didn't latch when entering or leaving the house.
Vera vs MSR lock code logic
-
Hi Everyone,
In the Vera Reactor logic, I used to use the operator "updates" in a lock condition.
If I entered the door and the code used was "Mike," it would hold the condition true indefinitely because "Mike" was the last stored value. Since it is held indefinitely, setting the condition to pulsed would not allow the condition to fire again because it never went false. If I entered a different code, the condition would go false, then entering "Mike" again would cause the condition to go true.
I did this using the operator "updates" in an AND condition along with the lock code. The code condition would stay true with "Mike," and when "Mike" is entered consecutively, the "updates" condition will go true each time, and then the whole condition would go true, triggering the action.
Since "updates" no longer appears to be an operator, how would I do this in the new logic? I think I remember a discussion about this, but I searched and can't seem to find it.
I'm not a programmer, so I am probably missing the easy way to do this.
-
You're absolutely right to acknowledge that MSR cannot "see" the [Update] of a particular parameter, only [Changes] (blame Vera, not MSR).
There are a couple of handy work-arounds, but I'll focus on Locks in particular.
First, use "Entities" to observe any other parameter(s) that may be changing on your door lock when a key code is entered. Even if "Mike" enters twice in succession, there's a strong chance you'll also see a 'timestamp' or 'lastChanged' type of variable at play. MSR can use such items as potential auxiliary triggers to watch.
Secondly, and this is how I handle my own lock responses... If you create a global reaction (I'll call this "Reset Lock") whose sole purpose is to set the Locks "userCode" to 0 after a Rule has run, and use a [Run Reaction] to call this routine every time your main Rule's
Set Reaction
runs, then you make it possible for MSR indeed to tell each and every time the Lock gets unlocked. In this latter setup, you may feel like you're sacrificing the name of the last successful code to unlock the lock. Not really. Your main Rule can also contain a (blank) receiving variable, to which you can assign the then-current value of "userCode" prior to calling the "Reset Lock" helper reaction. I just don't know how important it is for you to have that information stored, so this is up to you.
Good luck!
-
In my lock management, I just set
sl_UserCode
to "none" (using the x_vera_device.set_variable entity action) as part of my Set reaction when detecting changes in the value (so my logic uses two conditions:sl_UserCode
changes andsl_UserCode
<> none). This is simple and effective and I haven't yet seen it not work (several months this way at this point). -
Thank you @LibraSun and @toggledbits
Resetting the lock sl_UserCode is where I ended last night, but I got tripped up on the proper field values of x_vera_device.set_variable within MSR. I will spend some time with it today and see if I can get this working.
-
This should help you pinpoint it... go back to Vera > Devices > find your lock > click the ► next to it > Advanced > click "Variables" tab > find
sl_UserCode
> clickEdit
> look at top of pop-up panel for exact serviceId::parameterName.Those are the details that MSR will need to have you paste in under
x_vera_device.set_variable
. Sample screenshot shown here:
Hope this gets you one step further!
-
Thank you Libra,
I had an incomplete value in "service" when I was testing. I was so close... damnit.
Works now, and thank you for teaching me something.
-
@librasun, I wish I could say it was a typo, but it was more of a lack of understanding of what I had to set. I had "service" set to "DoorLock1" instead of the full value.
I might have spoken a little too soon on everything working. I sent the command, and it worked, but then I got an alert for a Lua reload.
When I send the command through Vera>device>advanced>variables for sl_UserCode, it works fine, and I can change it to anything without causing a reload.
When I send the command through MSR, it does change the lock value as if I had done it through Vera, but it also causes a reload after about 10 seconds. After the reload, it returns to the last value physically entered into the lock.
Any ideas? I do not think it is formatting because the value sets properly when looking at the lock data.
So close!
-
Hmm, all I can forewarn you about is to check whether you have created circular logic, in which case MSR may be firing multiple copies of what looks to you and me like a single event. MSR is FAST!! Vera likes SLOW.
So, do check, for instance, whether you have a Rule reacting to
[sl_UserCode] [changes]
. It would naturally re-react when MSR itself changes that parameter on Vera! What you'd need in order to "throttle" that behavior is a Constraint (often used as a safeguard against multiple firing of a Rule). If your workflow arbitrarily changes
sl_UserCode
to0
or"none"
, then the Constraint could very well read (I'm paraphrasing of course):[ sl_UserCode ] [ <> ] [ 0 ]
or
[ sl_UserCode ] [ <> ] [ none ]
so that MSR won't continue to run this Rule when the latest value in that parameter was the one MSR put there.
Hope this helps a bit more!
-
I only have a condition that lets me see the code (no reactions set) and a global reaction to let me set the code. The lock is not referenced in any other MSR condition or reaction. I was testing by watching the variable on the lock and pushing the play button on the reaction that sets the variable.
I am assuming that the value of "0" works because I can set that value inside of Vera with no issue. I have also tried sending a string that matches another valid lock code. It also seems like if I send that lock (Schlage lever lock) any set variable command through MRS, I get a reload. (Armed, Tripped, whatever)
Here are the screenshots of both the global reaction I use to set the variable and the condition I use to monitor the status.
(I don't know what is up with the pictures, but I attach two and one duplicates)
-
Yeah, the screenshots are hard to see due to the Forum UI mixing them up somehow, but I can still read 'em.
I presume you'll eventually have the Trigger'ed rule call the Global Reaction once you're satisfied with things? Meanwhile, you seem to be saying that Vera restarts or otherwise spazzes in response to the Schlage Lock having one of its parameters set. How odd!
I see nothing overtly wrong here, as far as your MSR setup is concerned.
-
I am wondering if this comes back to my particular Vera environment. I have another one of these locks, and I am going to set it up on the test Vera and see if the behavior is any different.
-
We'll only be guessing until you crank out the LuaUPnP log from your Vera (by calling <your_vera_ip>/cgi-bin/cmh/log.sh?Device=LuaUPnP) AND from your
reactor.log
file from your MSR setup, and inspect them both for clues. You need to know what's being sent immediately prior to these reboots. -
OK, I think I figured out what is going on.
I added the secondary controller to MSR, and this what I found testing two of the locks in my system.
Primary Controller with MSR interacting Vera Shop entities
Lock physically on controller: Shop back door (Device ID 134)
Lock bought in by bridged Vera: House back door (device ID 410 on primary and device ID 104 shown on primary as house back door 1)
Setting any variable on either lock, with any device ID, causes Lua to reload.Secondary controller with MSR interacting Vera House entities
Lock physically on controller: House back door (Device ID 96, same device that as appears on bridged primary device IDs 410 and 104)
Setting any variable on the lock does not cause Lua to reload, and the value holds until a door pin code is entered.I am 99% sure this is all due to bridging. This might not make total sense, but I did the best I could to describe this, and I AM NOT in any way requesting that @toggledbits should look into addressing an oddball problem of my own doing. When I did this, there was no MSR, and I believe MSR has effectively eliminated the need for IP Vera bridging.

+1 for un-bridging those controllers if it means you can use MSR as a pass-through instead.
Something in my gut tells me the rebooting Vera is somehow getting "ping-ponged" in such a manner that successive commands become stacked, time out, and trip the Luup engine's fight or flight response. -
I was going to dig into the issue further, but it would be a giant waste of time since MSR eliminates the need for Vera bridging.

I take it by now you read ezlo's list of "Known Issues" that include the specific issue you've reported? Seems to still be a problem, even with the second release of 7.32 beta firmware. Thus, I believe you're taking the smart route away from bridging.
