Logon screen timeout
G
Noticing since 170 that the lock screen doesn't switch to the logon prompt but, rather, stays on the active UI until such time as you go to click something within it. Then it jumps to the login screen. Brave browser Brave 1.92.139 (Official Build) (arm64) Chromium: 150.0.7871.114

Reactor (Multi-System/Multi-Hub) Announcements
toggledbitsT
Build 21228 has been released. Docker images available from DockerHub as usual, and bare-metal packages here. Home Assistant up to version 2021.8.6 supported; the online version of the manual will now state the current supported versions; Fix an error in OWMWeatherController that could cause it to stop updating; Unify the approach to entity filtering on all hub interface classes (controllers); this works for device entities only; it may be extended to other entities later; Improve error detail in messages for EzloController during auth phase; Add isRuleSet() and isRuleEnabled() functions to expressions extensions; Implement set action for lock and passage capabilities (makes them more easily scriptable in some cases); Fix a place in the UI where 24-hour time was not being displayed.

[MSR] Copy&past of actions and/or drag&drop between set/reset
therealdbT
Hey @toggledbits One thing that bothers me while doing work on new systems/new features, is that I cannot copy&paste actions, and I cannot drag&drop between set and resets. #1 is for when I want to copy an action between different rules opened in two separate browser windows, while #2 is when I just need to flip a bunch of actions in the reset, or move some logic back and forth. Both will be appreciated, but I understand the technical challenges. Thanks!

Upgrade advice - upgrade from aarch64 to ARM64 image
T
I'm currently on version 26011. I understand that the aarch64 image is no longer supported. So, I therefore need to update to the ARM64 image. Can anyone possibly suggest how I update my docker compose.yaml file (see below). Ideally I'd like to keep my existing reactions etc. rather than start from scratch. # Multi-System Reactor template docker-compose.yml (version 22160) # # Change the lines indicated by "DO"... # services: reactor: container_name: reactor environment: # DO change the TZ: line to set your local time zone. # See valid TZ list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tz_database_time_zones TZ: GB # # DO NOT change this path. Your directory location is in "source" below. Deprecation Announcement: 32-bit ARM *docker* images
toggledbitsT
If you are using the armv7l docker image, the OpenJS Foundation that publishes node is no longer producing 32-bit builds as of v24. That means the last supported LTS version of node for armv7l is v22, which will go End-of-Life in May 2027. Therefore, the Reactor armv7l image is now deprecated and will only be produced until node v22 goes EOL, and I will not publish armv7l images beyond that date. If you are running an RPi 3 or earlier with Reactor, you are on this image, and will need to upgrade hardware to a 64-bit model and use the arm64 image. If you need help getting it done, ask in this category.

@toggledbits I pulled the image (well, Watchtower did) and within minutes the whole system went offline. The log looks like it ends with 26143. http request action & digest auth
tunnusT
I’m using the HTTP Request action in MSR and need to authenticate against an endpoint that uses HTTP Digest authentication. Now that endpoint was changed to use SHA-256 in digest auth, so I would like to know if MSR supports it, or is it limited to MD5-based digest auth?

Integrations and 'Loaded'
CatmanV2C
Thanks again for the recent release. One thing I wanted to ask about integrations and their 'loaded' condition: Is there something similar that applies to the entire controller? So if I have (for example) a helper in HA that is used to trigger an automation in MSR, is it possible to effectively exclude it until MSR is 'happy' that HA is stable and its values can be trusted? This, actually goes back to the issue I had. I've got a use case where a 30 second delay from triggering is a bit of a PITA (sustained for...) and was just wondering if there's a way of knowing that 'native' HA functions are working correctly. Probably asking wrong, or it's hideously obvious, but... TIA C

Possible mismatch between binary_sensor in HA and MSR
CatmanV2C
Hi. First off this is an unsupported version of HS 2026.5.2 so happy to be told it's that. Currently running latest-26130-3d2a489a on a Debian Buster bare metal VM. I've been working on moving away from OpenLuup completely and up until now have been using some virtual switches t manage things like 'Is there anyone home' I have a binary sensor in HA that provides the same thing binary_sensor.someone_home which appears in MSR as hass>binary_sensor_someone_home HA shows on or off. MSR shows true or false All fine. The odd thing happened after an update of HA and a restart. From HA 13:07:04 it turned off 13:07:11 it turned on However that does not appear to have been reflected in MSR which turned all the heating and so on off as it is supposed to do, and I got all my notifications as I should. Here's a huge log section (sorry) as I wanted to show how MSR identifies that HA is up and running at 12:07:08 (Zulu) but triggers the 'There's no one here' at 12:07:17 some 6 seconds after HA updated to on. Checking in the interface MSR said the status was 'False' while HA stated 'On' @cw-kid, yeah it takes a little googling to set up and brand new debian OS but I am sure you will get there. I went through the same thing setting up my T640. Debian takes a little bit more work than ubuntu which has a lot of these setup by default.

Hi, well I bought the HP T520 Thin Client because of what you said to me previously. It was cheap enough from eBay.

I had some issues with the power supply however as it didn't come with one.
I did have a spare suitably spec'd laptop power supply, but it had the wrong DC connector plug on the end of it.

So I ordered the correct "DC Tip 7.4x5.0mm Power Plug Socket Connector" off eBay and cut the other one off and soldered the new one on.

However the HP Thin Client was not turning on, no power nothing at all and totally dead.

I then read that you have to use a genuine HP power supply, as they have some kind of checking so that the thin clients won't power on if you are using a 3rd party power supply.

    Corporate Greed !

I then found an article about hacking the unit and soldering in a 240K resister on the back of the power input jack and I did this today and amazingly it worked and the thin client powered on.

One thing I can't figure out how to do yet is to update the BIOS without having one of their supported OS installed.

I don't have this exact model but... my HP desktops all have the ability to update the BIOS from within the UEFI BIOS. Have you tried that? Sorry for the song and dance on the power supply. I never encountered this since I always got power bricks with the ones I bought and I actually have spare power supplies... Great soldering job though!

        @rafale77

There is an option in the BIOS menu to update / flash the BIOS but when I click OK on it, it says:

"Can not find bios update interface"

I've not really looked in to it properly yet as I was keen to get MSR up and running first.

From the quick Google searches I did, most suggested you need to have one of the HP supported operating systems installed to be able to update the BIOS.

But there must be some work around some how. I need to read in to it more.

@toggledbits I copied over the storage and config folder contents from the Rpi to the HP Thin Client and then restarted MSR on the thin client.

I did edit the base URL in the Reactor.yaml file.

I've stopped the MSR service on the Rpi so now the thin client is the only one running..

None of my scheduled rulesets based around sunset have run their actions this evening for some reason.

The time shown in the top of the MSR Web GUI is the correct time.

So seems I need to look into this further.

There is another schedule up coming, the garden lights should turn on 20 minutes after sunset, that is in about 20 minutes time from now, so will see if that happens?

          EDIT:

These are the before sunset rules that the other rules reference in their triggers.

20 and 40 minutes before sunset, not sure why both say true as of the same time at 20:48pm.

          e9f128b8-e60a-42e8-9290-7491c94a8650-image.png

The after sunset 20 minutes rule says:

          waiting for 21:21:00

Its now 21:25pm and my garden lights have NOT turned on, so something not right here.

This is the summary card for the rule that turns on the garden lights:

Think something may have gone wrong with copying over the stuff from the Pi.

This is that folder in WinSCP on the HP Thin Client.

            50a14a12-f394-41ed-b12a-5b7cedda1857-image.png

I installed MSR as a none root user aka as my own username name. But these rule set files most are saying root as the owner.

I was logged in to WinSCP as root user when I did the copy so maybe that is why.

If I try logging in to WinSCP as my username instead of root and then doing the copy again from the Pi to the Thin Client it doesn't work and I don't seem to have the permissions to do it.

            dbec463b-855f-4275-9ec9-ff782ac1ee61-image.png

If instead I try to change the group and owner of a file from root to my username I can't do that either:

So I am stuck now and don't know what to do.....

OK I logged back in to WinSCP as root and now I can change all the files their group and owner from root to my own user name. I have done that now for all of them.

So hopefully that fixes the problem? Will have to wait for later schedules to happen later this evening to see.

A scheduled rule set just ran actually and turned on the RGBW light strip in the kitchen, so think it's working now.

Make sure your system time zone is set to local time. If the default is UTC or something else, all time-based rules will be a mess. The displayed time in the GUI is browser time, not system (host) time.

Fix permissions in your Reactor config and storage with this:

                sudo chown -R stuart:stuart config/ storage/

Edit: To see current host time configuration:

@toggledbits said in Issues installing MSR on Debian 10 Linux:

                  http://your-msr-host-ip:8111/diag/sun

                  The host time is currently 16/05/2021, 14:20:58 offset 60 minutes from UTC (TZ=undefined); location (lat,lon) 53.99078,-1.5373 elev 127; sunrise 16/05/2021, 05:01:40, sunset 16/05/2021, 21:03:33.
                  {"sunrise":1621137700000,"sunset":1621195413000,"civdawn":1621134941000,"civdusk":1621198173000,"nautdawn":1621130939000,"nautdusk":1621202174000,"astrodawn":null,"astrodusk":null,"solarnoon":1621166557000,"daylength":16.031,"angle":14.6}

Time looks to be correct, however it says "TZ=undefined".

None of my schedule rules were running last night because of the permissions issue when I copied them from the Pi to the Thin Client.

I fixed that and then they started working again OK.

I've got everything moved over from the Pi now to the new Thin Client, also setup today Node-Red and Java HA-Bridge.

What's the best way to be backing up Debian ?

The SSD is only 16GB so guess I could take a full system snapshot rather than just backing up certain files and folders.

Indeed a full system snapshot would be best and easier to recover but short of that, you can always backup the entire folder by running a cron job to copy the reactor folder either to a network drive or to a USB SSD you would have to plug into the T520.

I use scp just to copy the config and storage directories. That's really all you need to from Reactor to get it going on a reinstall, as you've seen.

I find file-based backups of entire Linux systems to be perilous, because permissions, links and special files almost always get screwed up somehow, so I never recommend that route. An image backup is better (I use partclone to back up used space only, and it's good about the later target system being a different size/geometry than the original/source), but I'll only do that maybe 1-2 times per year. I figure if I can restore an image quickly and apt-get update my way back to current, that's fast enough on recovery.
