I've been using Vera Plus for nearly 10 years now but it's time to move on. On top of that we've moved from the previous house whereupon I took all the Z-wave door sensors, locks and switches with me and reverted the pool to manual control, grabbing the Autelis which I won't use now since the new pool we built has Pentair IntelliCenter.

I have the Vera Plus connected and have it controlling a couple of Honeywell Z-Wave thermostats and a couple of lights but It seems to just be slower and slower as it ages. I have an intel i3 NUC that is probably 6 years old but figure it's probably powerful enough to control HA going forward. I also dabbled with HomeSeer but it seems to cost a fortune for plugins. I have HS4 and a G3 Z-Wave Plus dongle from them.

How do I get started? I'm thinking I'll just unpair all my devices from the Vera Plus and add them to HA and then set up Reactor to do the logic but is there a way to migrate? Should I use Open LUA instead?

Lots of questions but I'm ready to get started an any help would be appreciated.

Lot's of suggestions here. Keep in mind the last thing I programed was something in college decades ago in Fortran so I don't know any of the current languages. I need something dumbed down and preferably graphics based.

I actually have a HomeSeer Smart Stick + actually, Model number SA 370-2, 908.42 MHz (Said G3 in my initial post) and would like to use my NUC for the controller but for whatever reason it is packed away and I cannot find it.

Can I start on my Ryzen 3700x and then migrate it over to the NUC when I dig it out of storage?

I'm thinking HA might be more for me because I need it dumbed down a bit but where to start? Links?

So how do I run a virtual machine? Gotta back up a bit for me!

It gives me instructions. I had to go to HomeSEER's website to perform the update. I just finished that task and am restarting the HA VM now.

I'm not going to bother with using rigpapa's (ToggledBits) update from Vera to HA using MSR as I currently have two thermostats and three switches connected to Vera since the move from my previous house required a decommission of that whole system. I really have set up any reactors in Vera for these devices so I'll just un-include them from Vera and include them in HA. What do you think, @toggledbits ?

It's been in a box for going on 5 years now. I think I just got it for the heck of it when I got it and haven't really used it too much except to do some testing with Emby Beta a while back. I'm going to remove everything I don't need from it and dedicate it to HA.

Z-Wave Mesh Priority Routes Explained

It's under network graph (left menu). You need to set return routes. I have a couple of nodes that went from 10 sec to instantly, because of an horrible set of dynamic routes calculated automatically.

That sounds like a work day and a potential to bork my system! I think physically re-routing is probably more practical.

My locks are all now set up and working. I had to move my NUC / Controller to a high location more central in my house and put in a wired repeater to help route around a massive masonry fireplace that goes from the floor to above the roof and is about 2 or more feet thick and the full width of the wall separating the Family Room from the Laundry Room to get the lock between the laundry room and garage to show up on the network.

Very pleased thus far with Keymaster and now I need to set up notifications so I know when certain people are coming through the locks and into my house.
