[Solved] DynamicGroupController updating members issue
CrilleC
Edit: Solved in latest-26221. Bare-metal latest-26193 I have this group: "OKforLarm": name: OK för Larm select: - include_controller: vera - include_capability: door_sensor filter_expression: entity.attributes.door_sensor.state It contains the entities I expect but behaves a bit odd. When I open vera>device_10097 the entity attribute door_sensor.state changes to true but it won't show up as member in the group, when I also open vera>device_10095 they both shows as members and when I close vera>device_10095 it disappear from the group but when I close vera>device_10097 it lingers in the group until I restart Reactor.

Reactor (Multi-System/Multi-Hub) Announcements
toggledbitsT
Build 21228 has been released. Docker images available from DockerHub as usual, and bare-metal packages here. Home Assistant up to version 2021.8.6 supported; the online version of the manual will now state the current supported versions; Fix an error in OWMWeatherController that could cause it to stop updating; Unify the approach to entity filtering on all hub interface classes (controllers); this works for device entities only; it may be extended to other entities later; Improve error detail in messages for EzloController during auth phase; Add isRuleSet() and isRuleEnabled() functions to expressions extensions; Implement set action for lock and passage capabilities (makes them more easily scriptable in some cases); Fix a place in the UI where 24-hour time was not being displayed.

DynamicGroupController and attributes
therealdbT
Hey @toggledbits I'm back to trying to optimize a couple of things based on dynamic group. First of all, I think I found a typo in the doc: primary_attribute: "binary_sensor.state" primary_attribute_value: | d = false; each id in members: d = getEntity(id)?.attributes?.power_switch?.state or d, d I think the correct code snippet is d = false, All that said, my use case for dynamic groups is to group 3 different climate devices, so I could easily command them at the same time. Commands are good, but sometimes I want to check if any of the devices are on, and that's easily done with a similar snippet as the one you have in the docs. But this is limited to the primary attribute, while I want to have any of the attributes in the group to be driven by a similar logic (while all are null in the group). ie, access hvac_control.mode and see if any of the unit is set to cool, or heat. Is that possible, without re-defining an expression in each of my rules? Thanks!

[MSR] Copy&past of actions and/or drag&drop between set/reset
therealdbT
Hey @toggledbits One thing that bothers me while doing work on new systems/new features, is that I cannot copy&paste actions, and I cannot drag&drop between set and resets. #1 is for when I want to copy an action between different rules opened in two separate browser windows, while #2 is when I just need to flip a bunch of actions in the reset, or move some logic back and forth. Both will be appreciated, but I understand the technical challenges. Thanks!

Upgrade advice - upgrade from aarch64 to ARM64 image
T
I'm currently on version 26011. I understand that the aarch64 image is no longer supported. So, I therefore need to update to the ARM64 image. Can anyone possibly suggest how I update my docker compose.yaml file (see below). Ideally I'd like to keep my existing reactions etc. rather than start from scratch. # Multi-System Reactor template docker-compose.yml (version 22160) # # Change the lines indicated by "DO"... # services: reactor: container_name: reactor environment: # DO change the TZ: line to set your local time zone. # See valid TZ list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tz_database_time_zones TZ: GB # # DO NOT change this path. Deprecation Announcement: 32-bit ARM *docker* images
toggledbitsT
If you are using the armv7l docker image, the OpenJS Foundation that publishes node is no longer producing 32-bit builds as of v24. That means the last supported LTS version of node for armv7l is v22, which will go End-of-Life in May 2027. Therefore, the Reactor armv7l image is now deprecated and will only be produced until node v22 goes EOL, and I will not publish armv7l images beyond that date. If you are running an RPi 3 or earlier with Reactor, you are on this image, and will need to upgrade hardware to a 64-bit model and use the arm64 image. If you need help getting it done, ask in this category.

I’m using the HTTP Request action in MSR and need to authenticate against an endpoint that uses HTTP Digest authentication. Now that endpoint was changed to use SHA-256 in digest auth, so I would like to know if MSR supports it, or is it limited to MD5-based digest auth?

An integration requires something to talk to, and in my experience, most of these desktop applications for home/SOHO UPS systems don't offer anything. So first question is to find out if the application publishes a web service or has other similar capabilities.

Failing that, you can use a NUT (Network UPS Tools) server, which can be configured for client access so that other systems in your network that are NUT-compatible can get UPS status info. But, you probably will not be able to run NUT and the Tripp-Lite app side-by-side, as they will both want authoritative control of the serial (USB) port. So going down this path, you'll have to use NUT as your control software for the UPS on your Windows system.

I use NUT on Linux (and I have a Reactor controller for it that I can publish). I know nothing about it on Windows.

As always Patrick, thank you for your attention.

I will follow your recommendation at the weekend and see if I can then have control by NUT, if this is possible then I communicate to you with your usual kindness to help us to then have access via MSR.

Thank you very much and I will inform you next week.

OK. I had to cobble-up some documentation, and I'm a bit swamped this week so forgive any spelling and grammar transgressions arising from my haste.

NUTController build 22151 can now be downloaded from extras and the docs are here.

NUT installed and running, it was a long way, I had to install VirtualBox and create a Linux VM because I couldn't find anywhere how to have NUT for Windows.

Now I see that to install NUTController you have to be Linux too? If your answer is yes, then I will have another huge journey, move the MSR from Windows bare-metal to this VM I created, and we will have to read a lot of manual, I know nothing of Linux.

It should run fine under Windows. Just create an ext directory in your Reactor install directory, unzip the archive, and copy the NutController folder into ext. If you look at the install.sh script, all it does is install dependencies using npm, so instead of running the script, just run the npm command manually:

                    npm i --no-save --omit dev

Configuration steps are the same, but depending on how your VM is configured, you may need to do some network tricks in VirtualBox to make sure that NUTController can access the IP port of your NUT server in the VM. Can't help you there. VirtualBox is not my jam.

Thanks for publishing this. I am now using it on MSR Synology docker. Love it.

                        Hi Patrick

Well, I got all the installations done, and NUT is connected to the MSR.

So, my difficulty as can be seen on the first screen, that I don't get the detailed UPS information in the MSR.

You are not searching correctly in the Entities list. Your UPS name does not have "nut" in it. Rather than seaching for entities containing the word "nut", clear all fields and select your NUTController instance in the controller filter field.

                              Hi!

A query, my NUT service stops working recurrently, and when I make the query upsc myups@localhost I get the message Error: Data stale.

To get it working again I have to run upsdrvctl start to restart.

                              Has anyone experienced this difficulty?

Okay, job done, UPS > NUT > MSR > HE 😁

The only thing that bothers me is that the UPS drive stops working without explanation, and I had to put a routine in crontab for it to restart every 10 minutes, I find this horrible but it was the only solution from everything I read, and I am not the only one to do it.

Does the NUTController's system entity show that the connection is down when that happens? If so, and NUT is running on the same host as MSR, it's probably pretty easy to just write a rule that restarts the NUT service when the controller has been marked down for X minutes (sustained for).

                                    @toggledbits

The NUT and MSR are in the same HW, but NUT is in a Linux VM, and MSR I run in Windows.

I was able to build a rule in MSR that analyzes 3 attributes of NUT, that if they stay without changing the content in 5 minutes gives me an alert of failure.

Strange, when I look at the service, it is all active, what crashes is the UPS driver, so I have to run

                                    upsdrvctl stop
                                    upsdrvctl start

Now, is it possible via Windows MSR to trigger a command in the Linux VM to do this restart? It would avoid having to crontab, only reboot in real failure conditions, and not every 10 minutes.

                                    Thanks.

I rescued an Eaton Ellipse ups from work that come back to life with fresh batteries.👍

Thought it would be easy to get some kind of system status or notification (from Windows) that somehow could be picked up in Reactor or at least in HA. Oh my... what a horror 😱

After a long time following this guide I got NUT up and running on Windows @wmarcolin (Another VM is not a resonable option here)
Monitor a UPS attached to a Windows machine

Then I added the HA integration just to se if it worked and it actually did 😂

So now I want over the finish line, and install NUTController in Reactor.
It looked easy, but still, no luck.
This got me thinking on another possible solution. Reactor already monitors "System Memory" "Uptime" and so on, so maybe it also could monitor Powersource, Battery Level, Charging State? Then let Reactor react with its magic @toggledbits ?
For a Windows user that seems a lot easier and efficient as Windows just handle my UPS as the battery it actually is so it looked like "a laptop".

Anyway, here is were I got stuck. No clue what more to try since the Nutserver is up and running and speaks with HA.
                                      reactor.log gives me two errors:

Go into the extension directory (ext/NutController) and run npm list and post the output here.

Also you need to show your NutController config.
