    • Home Assistant add-on

      M

I've done a bit of repackaging of MSR to make it work as an add-on under Home Assistant mostly for my own purposes but hopefully it makes it a bit easier to install and get going.

    • Renaming Global Expressions possible?

      Snowman

I am doing some clean-up and wondering if there is a way to rename Global Expressions.

Unless I am blind, which I wouldn't be surprised, I can't seem to find an answer.

      Thanks

    • MSR controller status panel

      R

Running latest version of MSR in Docker on Bullseye/Raspberry Pi CM4. Every time I "restart" MSR it returns to the default set of status panels. I add "Controller Status", but it disappears on every restart. Is this the planned behavior or do I have an issue somewhere?

    • Way to copy or export Alerts?

      cw-kid

      Hi

Is there a way to copy text from an Alert or export them?

I wanted to copy a device ID number that MSR says no longer exists on my Ezlo Plus controller.

      Thanks

    • Include Entity by Name in Dynamic Group Controller

      Pabla

Trying to figure out how I can include a list of entities that have "battery_level" in their ID without having to manually include them in a list. I have a group which selects all entities with the battery_power capability and filters them if they are dead. In HA there are quite a few entities that have the battery_power capability but don't actually report a battery percent (see screenshot below for an example), the entities I am interested in are the ones that contain battery_level in their ID.

I tried the following in the config file but it hasn't worked:

      "dead_battery": select: - include_capability: battery_power - include_entity: "/^hass>battery_level/"

What I think I am doing wrong here is that I am including entities with the batter_level capability which doesn't actually exist.

    • [Solved] MSR actions aren't running anymore-- can't find what's broken

      E

Suddenly my MSR actions aren't running anymore. I've had this before, but with an update to a new version it was fixed. see also

      https://smarthome.community/topic/987/msr-actions-aren-t-running-anymore-can-t-find-what-s-broken/3?_=1674661492589

But an update from version 22240 to 22256 gave this time no result.

The reactions aren't running correctly. Most of my MSR automations are use turn lights on/off, and time based automations nothing worked where MSR does his magic.

I've also tested a bunch of things to see what's broken, here's what I've observed:
-I can successfully flip lights on/off manually within Vera
-I can successfully flip lights on/off manually within MSR's Entities section
-the sensors are correctly reporting to Vera and MSR (I can see when they're switch on/off)
-the rules within MSR are working correctly, I can see when they flip to 'true' of 'false' '
      '
But I cannot successfully run the "Set Reaction" and "Reset Reaction" within MSR (by hitting the 'play' button)
But the play buttons on the entitiy action in the "Set Reaction" and in "Reset Reaction" they work well.

Can someone help me to get MSR working again

MSR is running bare metal on Rpi4

    • Reactor (Multi-System/Multi-Hub) Announcements

      toggledbits

Build 21228 has been released. Docker images available from DockerHub as usual, and bare-metal packages here.

Home Assistant up to version 2021.8.6 supported; the online version of the manual will now state the current supported versions; Fix an error in OWMWeatherController that could cause it to stop updating; Unify the approach to entity filtering on all hub interface classes (controllers); this works for device entities only; it may be extended to other entities later; Improve error detail in messages for EzloController during auth phase; Add isRuleSet() and isRuleEnabled() functions to expressions extensions; Implement set action for lock and passage capabilities (makes them more easily scriptable in some cases); Fix a place in the UI where 24-hour time was not being displayed.

    • My MQTTController templates contribution

      Crille

I've made a few templates for MQTTController, mostly Zigbee2MQTT, and sharing them to the community if anyone else would find use for them.

These are the ones I'm using but I'm happy to add more Zigbee2MQTT templates if needed.

      Happy Holidays!

    • Ezlo Controller - Error Incompatible serialization data - api cloud Timeout

      N

      Hi,
Connection to Ezlo is going in timeout with api-cloud.ezlo. This happens in anonymous_access set to false or in true.
A lot of Error Incompatible serialization data (in the log I cut many more).
In MSR controller status, Ezlo is in green icon but after sometime devices start to not respond.
      Can I have some help?

    • Help. Installing Reactor on Home Assistant.

      A

Good afternoon. I want to connect Reactor to HA. HA is installed on Proxmox. Proxmox is installed on a Beelink U59 PRO mini PC. Studied the installation instructions ( https://reactor.toggledbits.com/docs/Installation / ) but I didn't understand how to do it (I'm a weak linux user). Help, give detailed instructions on how to install MSR.
Reactor is a cool plugin, I use it on VeraPlus, but gradually I want to switch to HA.
      Thanks.

    • Neural TTS with Sonos & Hubitat

      tunnus

My migration from Vera to Hubitat is almost ready, only Sonos & Visonic (alarm system) remain on Vera. Hubitat has a Sonos integration, but it lacks neural voices for TTS so I've been looking for an alternative solution.

@a-lurker hinted that there's a mqtt version for Sonos so I went that route and installed Docker containers for both sonos2mqtt and sonos-tts-polly. It turned out that I won't need mqtt for this at all, and I can utilize Hubitat's integration and just use the latter container for Polly.

Did create a separate user on AWS only for TTS usage (there's an access right called "AmazonPollyReadOnlyAccess") and configured key, secret & cache in the container. Then I made the following test rule / reaction in MSR:

      Screenshot 2023-01-20 at 15.32.23.png Screenshot 2023-01-20 at 15.32.38.png

So if anyone else has the same (or similar) setup, here's one way to achieve neural TTS with Sonos.

    • Cheapest platform on which to run MSR

      T

Please can anyone give me advice on a cheap way to run MSR (both initial cost and ongoing electricity cost). I currently run it on my QNAP network drive (which works very well incidentally). However, this draws a constant 35Watts (£90/yr @ 30p/kWh) and given the recent rise in fuel costs I am evaluating the best way forwards. Note, I only really need to turn my QNAP on for an hour a week to back-up my computer data. I understand that MSR can run on a Raspberry PI, but I am not competent with Linux! Thanks.

    • [Resolved] Determining if button is pushed

      3

MSR latest-23010-7dd2c9e9 in a Docker image
      HE C7 hub on 2.3.4.130

I'm trying to determine how to sense that a button has actually been pushed. I added a ThirdReality button to my hub and the current states don't release or reset after a function has been done. I/E: when I push the button, it sets the "pushed" state to 1. Same for all the other functions, double tap, hold, release. Nothing ever goes back to 0 or cleared out.

If I write my trigger as when "button.pushed" == 1, the current value is already one and the rule stays true all the time. What I'm after is when the button is pushed, the action will toggle the light I want to control.

I feel like I am missing something or maybe the States of the button are the issue. I can use Rule Machine in my HE and it sees the button as pushed, or held. But I would prefer to have all my logic in MSR.

And for some reason, I cannot post images. The server keeps giving me a parsing error.

    • Admin user required for Home Assistant Controller status and reactions

      S

      Hi,

Took me a while to realise the issue here. Just want to share to save others the time of trying to figure out what's wrong.

      Reactor (Multi-hub) stable-22337-1a0a685f Home Assistant 2022.11.5

Home Assistant integration with non-admin user (access token) will caused the Home Assistant status in Reactor to show as down. Entity info from Home Assistant, however, is being updated. But Reactor is unable to execute any reactions.

If the user is changed to an admin user in Home Assistant, the status is changed to up and reactions work.

    • [Solved] ZWaveJSUI not responding to ZWaveJSController

      G

I'm using ZWaveJSUI 1.4.2 within Home Assistant 2023.1.3. ZWaveJSController has been quite happy with it until I upgraded ZWaveJSController to 23010. This morning my iblinds weren't responding at all.

As I'd made some changes to the rules I figured it was my work and returned it to original rules. No change (iblinds not responding.)

      Restarted MSR.
      Restarted ZWaveJSUI.
      No change.

Rolled back ZWaveJSController to prior version 22323 and all is well again, iblinds responding.

Thinking on this as I'm writing it and I realized there was a light on this morning that shouldn't have been. I now realize it's on the ZWaveJSUI as well and didn't turn off last night as the house went to sleep.

I have the reactor.log if @toggledbits would like it.

    • [MSR] reactor-espresense to track ESPresense BTLE devices/beacons

      therealdb

My main objective was to track cars/motorcycles in real time, as they are leaving/entering the property, and I've experimented with different solutions, including WiFi devices, but I was not satisfied.

So, I have approached ESPresense to track BLE devices. I'm not yet 100% satisfied with my main use case (we'll see), but I learnt a couple of things about proximity along the way, so I've built a controller to natively track beacons/devices in MSR. The devices and beacons could be tracked inside Home Assistant, but I don't like the way it's doing it, and I wanted a very device-oriented solution, instead of a room one.

      Introducing reactor-espresense.

You'll have a device containing various info, like the current room where the beacon/device is currently in, the distance, and so on, for each BTLE device you'll choose to map. Configuration is needed to map your devices, and a look at the doc to understand how devices/beacons are detected away is suggested.

I've not invested into commands so much, but it's on my TODO list.

Feel free to post your requests/comments. Thanks!

What is expected: When an expression value changes, dependent expression values will also change

What is occurring: When an expression changes, dependent expressions only update if I click "Try this expression".

After updating to 22021 and then 22022 I noticed that my Thermostat routine started having issues. While looking into the cause I found that dependent expression were not updating automatically.

My specific application is as follows: I have MSR poll the Lennox "iComfort" API to get the current state of the Thermostat via an HTTP request every minute.
The request returns a JSON response. The polling rule captures that response to an expression:

That expression is being updated as expected:

      65884882-389a-4497-b125-e28a6e7ccf30-image.png

Other expressions are set to the values of various parts of the g_iComfort response. For example the cool set point expression is set as follows:

      397cea16-6af4-4919-b858-add26fc53d0d-image.png

These screen shots show that g_iComfort has the cool set point at 74, but g_tstat_csp is still 72 as I hadn't clicked the "Try this expression" button.

I have additional expressions set up for the heat set point, the operation mode, the humidity, etc.

Since g_tstat_csp is dependent on g_iComfort, if g_iComfort changes g_tstat_csp should change. When the polling rule runs each minute the g_iComfort expression updates, but none of the expressions that are dependent on g_iComfort update. If I click the "Try this expression" button, they update. On versions before 22021 they updated as expected.

As a test I set up two simpler expressions, one a string and one set to mirror that string:

      b7f5cd4a-e1de-4b86-81d5-2ef79a65996c-image.png

The attached screen shot was after I set g_test3 to "bar" and clicked Save, then clicked "Try this expression" on g_test4 which caused it to update to "bar". I then changed g_test4 to "foo" and clicked Save which resulted in this screen shot where g_test3 is "foo" but g_test4 is still showing "bar".

This is exactly what I've tried to explain in https://smarthome.community/topic/873/api-poll-doesn-t-un-set-or-populate-child-expressions, mine is bare metal.

@toggledbits in another similar example, updating a global expression no longer triggers a rule that uses this variable.

          23cc0a0e-2b14-4e03-816e-09dff5f1ec50-image.png

          9684aa74-64f7-41d5-86a8-08fe24b1efa8-image.png

Until version 22004 there was no problem.

If I manually activate the Reset Rule. the update is performed on the chosen rule.

          Thanks.

I searched through old topics looking to see if this was already reported, but somehow i missed your post.

I'm also seeing the issue where even when I update the expression, the new value doesn't appear in a rule that references it unless I manually reset the rule.

@alan_f I cannot verify that as I've rolled back to build 22004 given I'll be away from the house for a bit this afternoon.

I'm still experiencing a strange behavior with 22023. I have a couple of reactions using expression, where they are null and are only updating when I manually press play, thus not firing the associated reaction when an expression changes. Am I the only one with such a problem?

I still had issues, but then I realized that even after 22023 was posted, my install of the Docker 'latest' version re-installed 22022. Once I got 22023 the expressions seem to be working properly.

Probably unrelated to the updates, but I had a rare misfire this morning where Reactor didn't see a switch thrown on my Hubitat hub. I turned on a virtual switch via a Hubitat dashboard. That switch being on should start a reaction to set my Thermostat to daytime settings. The switch turns off automatically 5 seconds later. The MSR logs don't show the switch turning on (or off) the first time I clicked it, but the Hubitat dashboard showed it in an 'on' state for 5 seconds. When I clicked it again it worked as expected. I use that function every night and every morning and this is the first time I can remember it failing.

                              @gwp1 @Alan_F and @therealdb

Trying to collaborate with the discussion, what I have seen is that actions that occur during the update process, ie if I turn on or off some switch, or if there was an action in progress and I perform the update the state of the action would end during the update, this action remains activated and switch with old status. In other words, it seems to me that maybe there has to be something that downloads all the actions, performs the update, and then when restarting with the new version restarts the actions. Or also take the updated status of the devices.

In theory that's what MSR does, that's what I see in the logs, but my feeling is that again we come back to the issue that MSR is much faster than Hubitar and things get left behind when rebooting. When we manually reload an action, or turn a switch on or off, we do a manual re-sync.

My suggestion is on the next update, we have to watch the ongoing actions that are paused and the status of devices, perform the upgrade, look at the log when it returns and try to create some consistency in this eventual problem scenario.

Had the same issue with the same switch last night. Google assistant turns the virtual switch on. The Hubitat turns it off 5 seconds later. Reactor should see the switch on and initiate the night thermostat and lights-off actions. The logs on the Hubitat show the switch turned on, but Reactor missed it. On a second attempt, Reactor reacted. I definitely notice if this reaction fails, as the lights in the bedroom don't turn out. I can't remember any failures prior to version 22021. I haven't made any changes to the default settings related to the communications with Hubitat, but I was under the impression that those related to ensuring that MSR didn't hit Hubitat with too many commands at once, so I'm not sure they would have any relationship to MSR not receiving an entity update from Hubitat.

In logging.yaml, turn up the logging on HubitatController by adding a section like that shown below. Indent the HubitatController: line like the other items already in the file. If HubitatController: is already in the file, just modify it as shown. Then restart Reactor. Capture the log file (name shown below) the next time this happens (make sure the time range in the file includes the time range of the miss). I will need the entire log without redaction, the time of the (non-)event, and your timezone. I'll give you a safe place to post the log when you have it.

Do not take any corrective actions. At least, don't do anything for at least 5 minutes. Then you can fix whatever should have happened. But leave it alone at least 5 minutes after the expected event.

                                        HubitatController:
                                          level: 5
                                          streams:
                                            - type: file
                                              name: hubitat.log
                                              keep: 2
                                              level: 999

Done. At the rate it's been going I'd expect it to be at least a few days before I get anything.

I am connected to two Hubitat devices... one at my house and one at my parents' house. If there is a way to filter by name should I have it only do the detailed logs for one to keep the log size more manageable?

If I get a misfire, will I need to pull the logs right away (after the 5 minute wait to re-issue the command) before they get overwritten? Since this happens at bedtime my wife would probably be happier if I wait until morning to pull the logs... she already won't be super happy with the 5 minute wait to turn out the lights. But it wouldn't be the first time I got out of bed to go to the computer and troubleshoot home automation 🙂

You should have plenty of time before the logs rotate away. If in doubt, up the keep value to something higher, maybe even 10. How much it logs really depends on your system activity. Just to be safe, also remove the recycle: true line (starts a new log on every Reactor restart -- don't need that, maybe don't want that).

To limit the log to just the one unit, make the HubitatController: line read "HubitatController#id":, where id is the ID you assigned to it in your config. I always quote when introducing special characters.

Ok. Currently I have log from 14:47 hours at 1.3 MB, log.1 from 1411 hours at 2 MB, and log.2 from 13:31 hours at 2 MB, so it looks like I'm getting about 40 minutes per log file. I'll bump up the keep value and filter to just the one device id to make sure they persist until morning.
