z-way-server - Debian

  • For those like me, using Debian. You can use the Ubuntu version.

Just did the switch this morning from 3.0.0 Debian to 3.0.6 Ubuntu on a Debian VM!

  • Great that you can confirm my suspicion. I am not even sure why you would need two different builds unless they were meant for different platforms (I had this problem with arm between the 32 and 64bit versions)

Almost 4 months now since my migration from vera and I can vouch now that the initial impact is sustainable, digital et permanent. I have had no device failing to actuate. No delayed scenes or automation. No rogue sensors failing to untrip... (I am a bit surprised by this too), no ghost sensor trips, no device suddenly becoming offline, barely ever need to use even Homewave anymore since I have no need for mobile app at all except for occasional status checks, heck I even barely ever have to look at ALTUI/openLuup. Everything z-wave finally working flawlessly and on top of this, I have very significantly decreased the frequency of battery charging/swapping. I think the average battery lifetime increased by 80 to 300% depending on the device. Even my leviton scene controllers which needed a monthly power cycle with the vera before FW 7.30 and a quarterly one after FW 7.30 have not yet failed. Night and day...

    Hi

Brand new Buster install here. I'm running into a library requirement for libcrypto.so.1.0.0 in both the Debian and Ubuntu versions.

That seems to be deprecated part of open ssl
Any idea how I can resolve it?

    Cheers

    C

  • @CatmanV2 I'm still using Debian stretch on my VM as back in time, z-way only supported stretch for their debian version.

I will need to dig a little bit but pretty sure we can install the old libcrypto from a backports repo for debian!

  • Yeah that's what I'm looking at. I can't be doing another install!

  • Well installed libcrypto. Now hit the curl4 issue. I thought this had been resolved? Not exactly brimming with joy at this point.

So somehow I need earlier curl as well

  • @CatmanV2 you can install libssl1.0.0 on Buster using multiarch-support package and then install the package from

I just test it on buster and I'm not having both libssl installed!

    What's the error about curl4 ?

  • @CatmanV2

    Have a look here
    https://smarthome.community/topic/120/z-way-server-ubuntu-install

You should be able to do something with Debian 10

  • I knew there was another link! Cheers
